Easiest thing to do is find your TPS plug and follow the harness, the MAP sensor plug is attached to the harness very close to the TPS plug. Alot of people switch these around by accident.
Remember the MAP sensor wires are White, Grn/White, and Red/Yellow colors, so you don't end up plugging that plug into you TPS sensor and the car runs like crap.

If they are mixed up, yes the car will run like crap, just check the wire colors, if the above wire colors are pluged into the TPS sensor, switch it to the map sensor. The TPS sensor will be right by the MAP sensor plug.

At that point, that is why if you don't know much about the car or the make in general, take someone with you that does and thoroughly look over the car, hell when I go look at a car, I still bring a buddy with me just so I have 2 sets of eyes incase I miss something.
Are you throwing any codes? Are you getting spark, fuel etc?
You have your seatbelt harness attached to your stuts for the hatch?
If I were you just pull up the backseat and bolt the harnesses to the spot where your back seat belts are bolted in, that's where mine are located at and haven't had any signs of it moving or anything.

I would see if you can borrow one also check to make sure the wires don't have any splits in them.
Did you check to see what color the wires were that were plugged into the map? Are they the colors I mentioned above?
