Default buying a crx...engine issues

the problem with it is that its only running on 3cylinders.owner claims that he used too low octance therefore it went. my question is what will it take to get the motor running and pass emisions. swap is definitly an option in the future , but for the time being could i replace the head (ie vtec head?) or repair the damage itself (cost?)
just want to know what my options could be.
thanks!
andy

low octane? hhhmmm. my original CRX Si manual says that it runs on 87+ octane. how much lower could his "low octane" could have possibly been? unless he fueled it with diesel for years.

this guy is probably lying to you about why the one cylinder is not functioning.

he was probably racing, mis-shifted, landed it into 2nd gear, sending it to 10,000 rpms or some ****. if you did want this thing to pass smog, it will be a decent amount of work i think. you will probably need to replace the head because it probably has a few bent valves too along with God knows what in the block since it has been partially grenaded.

in my opinion, i would not get this CRX unless you plan on changing to a DOHC. it is not going to be worth the money to repair the puny broken-*** SOHC for now if you are going to replace it with a DOHC.
