Default which is the better tranny?

which is better for my setup, JDM Y1, JDM S1, or JDM YS1?

I have an EF8, 185whp @ 8800rpm b16a, currently has the non-LSD Y1 tranny.

I finish the 1.4 mile at 9000rpm at 3rd gear with 9k rpm shifts. My tires are 195.55 advan ao32rs. Is it ok? after shifting 3rd gear i feel that my car is not getting any faster. Is it because of the 4.2 FD of the Y1?

I need some opinions. TIA

isnt the Y1 the better tranny with shorter gears? and you got to remember you are shifting at 9k you are losing power when you shift at that high of RPMs

I think you'd know how your car feels the best. If it feels undergeared, then make a change.

It might be more practical just to swap in a lower final drive, most of the gear spacing itself isn't all that different between the close ratio VTEC transmissions.

Obviously, if you swap, make sure you know what you are getting, S1 and YS1 transmissions have wide and narrow spacings, as both were used in LS/RS/GS models as well.

If you want to buy something, the VTEC YS1 cable transmissiosn are the lowest of the factory gearing. 4.4 axles, and the tightest spacing. I'm putting one behind my LS in my 91 hatch in a couple weeks, from a 1992 USDM GS-R.
