Icon2 '91 hatch engine

I have a 1991 Civic DX hatch with a D16z6 engine in it. The engine, transmission, and dash and ecur were all swapped from a Del Sol Si a few years back. Also, the hatch didn't have space for the hydraulic clutch system the Del Sol came with so the car is set up with the clutch cable the hatch originally came with. To make a long story short, a couple valves are bent from the timing belt breaking, and the car is slow as **** now. Do you guys know what other engines i could put in the car? I just want to swap the engine, meaning leaving the same transmission and such, if i can. It may be a long shot, but I'm hoping to get the car to be decent again by replacing just the engine. So, does anyone have any ideas....? Is a D16 the only option now? I've heard of people putting in B-series, but I don't know if the tranny will math up the same.

so from what i can find, there is a hot debate between the d16z6 and the d15b. I know the engine i have now is crap, but i guess i could just get the same one. Either way, do you guys know of any sites that are good for getting engines? I found the d15b comes from Japan, at least the good one. I think i could find a d16z6 around here at a junkyard, but my friend had a bad experience with that...his engine burns oil and smokes like crazy, basically just a piece of crap too.

If you engine doesn't burn oil and had good power - before the timing belt snapping, why not swap the head, throw on a new head gasket, timing belt and water pump and call it a day? Why spend more money?

Cheapest fix would be to replace the bent valves. If you dont want to, replace the head. If you still arent satisfied, get another z6, remember, displacement above the rest.

Well I've thought of replacing the head but iv been told that's bad because the block and head have different mileage on them. Compression will ne messed up right? Replacing the valves is engine work I've never done, and I don't want to eff it up. My dad is driving it around now. We just got it back on the road, but its been sitting awhile and is really boggy, and the vtech won't kick in. I'm pretty sure there is an oil pressure issue, or the vtech controller is done. The engine has so many problems, it seemed easier to replace it. I was just trying to see if there was anything else I could put in that is better. I'm not too familiar with the EFs. I drove this car for only a couple months and have been fixing the clutch and timing belt since. I drive a RSX-S now, so I'm more familiar with them.

Well I have a new timing belt I could swap over, and I just replaced the clutch and flywheel. hoses are easy, and im sure a new water pump will be fine with all else considered. Any tips in how to do an engine swap at home without a lift or engine stand?

i did an engine swap before i had ever changed oil or anything because my first car is my current hatch and i got it with a blown motor, i rented an engine hoist from a rent a center, if you have everything disconnected before you rent the hoist, if you go this way, removal isn't bad at all. people do mini me swaps all the time and their head and block are obviously going to have different miles but for the price and amount of work you should swap heads..

how to pull motor with out a hoist, drop it from the bottom.

o/p you should just buy a rebuilt z6 or y8 head and put it on your motor, people do it all the time when the neglect to maintain their cars and their timing belts snap. same block rebuilt head.

put your car on stands, put your jack on the motor centered as best as you can... take all the mounts and everythign thats in the way off a lil tug and pul to clear everything lower the jack motor should come down now with another jack, jack your car up with like blocks of wood until you you clear the engine n pull it out

do it at your own risk if i were you id invest in a hoist taking it out from under is a big risk that i would never take i seen my friend do it ghetto *** phucckk but it worked
