Icon2 5 lug swap on a 1990 CRX Si

I'm looking to do the 5 lug conversion on my CRX. My knowledge on brakes though is extremely limited. I can change my brake pads and push in the piston on my calipers and that's as far as my knowledge goes with that. Would like to know what i'm getting into, difficulty and if there is a certain year ITR I need to look for over another.

while not extremely hard to do, your very limited knowledge now wont help. Do a bit of research on the subject. youll need to know how to bleed brake lines, swap calipers swap trailing arms, prop valve, and e brake cable. Ive never done a 5 lug swap, but I have done a rear disc brake conversion and its very much the same.

there is some custom work needed if you want to do it well. Its not really worth the trouble as you can get the same brakes that will fit 4lug as well

What's your reason for wanting to convert to 5 lug?

Fairly easy use the search button it would be the same for ef, just use eg upper control in front and rear ebrake cables won't mount up all the way but will fit fine

Because he doesn't know any better. That and he wants to add unsprung/rotational weight, I suppose.

As I said looking do it, I implied researching it. Not gathering parts to do it and I'm not doing it right now. And also, when I joined this site, I was hoping to find help and good conversation; not sarcasm and smart remarks. Keep it to yourself next time.

lol.

And if you are indeed "researching" it, perhaps you should start out by asking the pros/cons, not what year ITR swap to look for. Sounds to me like you already have your mind made up.

If not, then start back @ square one and try asking a question that will get you to a better answer.

I know people like to post up questions just cuz even though a quick search on google tells all, but i'll toss ya a bone because you're a n00bie

the first thing you can do is just bolt up the dc2 front knuckles and rear trailing arms, bleed the brakes, and go. HOWEVER this results in a terrible alignment issue, as the newer eg dc and ek knuckles cause positive camber issues on our cars

second thing you can do is take da or ex knuckles and machine down the hub about 0.5mm and press the hub into the da or ex wheel bearings and you're good to go suspension wise, as seen here:

http://battlecat.8m.com/ITR%205%20lug%20on%20DA.htm

or you can purchase the itr calipers (found on any accord v6 from 94-97, accord wagon, acura legend from 92 and up [caliper bracket says 23 or 25t] honda Odyssey, prelude vtec, or an itr for front calipers)

and machine the caliper bracket for the front and use re drilled prelude vtec rotors (i've heard vw corrado rotors work too, and mini cooper rotors) so you can rock the 11.1" front rotors (i think the rear calipers bolt right up?). this way utilizes your stock front knuckles

other info i have book marked.

hope that helps.
