Z6, still spitting out black stuff from exhaust
I posted about this a few weeks back, and the general consensus was that the O2 sensor in my D16Z6 was bad and the car was running rich, lack of oxygen, etc. I already knew the O2 sensor was bad, so I replaced it (which was hell to get out, by the way).
I've been running the car with the new O2 sensor for almost a week, and am still noticing black stuff building up on my rear fender above the exhaust.
So now it's probably not a faulty O2 sensor. Any other ideas?

well. I had the same problem with my 93. it wasnt my o2 sensor, I never did exactly figure it out. I had a axleback exhaust that had no gasket and hell, wasnt even bolted on tight. when I put my axleback exhaust on with a new high flow cat, no problems since with that, still running rich, lol. now that I say that, do you have a gutted catalytic converter? that sounds like a good reason there.

I don't know the exact details of the exhaust, I bought it with the exhaust on there. I do know that it's a garbage OBX exhaust, and I just tore part of it off the other day to put an O-ring/gasket thing in up near where it meets the header.
I plan on replacing the exhaust with something better anyway, but for now I don't have the cash yet and I was wondering if there were possible fixes to the problem. I suppose it's not a huge deal, but it looks like crap, especially on a white coupe.

i noticed my car was wayyy smoother and i got better mpg when i changed em, and it didnt leave anymore black crap. but that may not fix YOUR problem.

Re: (obuhmyuh)
^^^ now that I hear that, my distributor was the reason it has been running rich for these years. I brought it to a shop, since the distributors I kept buying didnt fix my problem, and they custom built a distributor, and its been running great since, and like 4-6mpg better I mean. the black stuff has been gone before that, but like I said, your cat may be gutted or just really old and the carb build up is coming out the tailpipe/muff
