Willl removing the driver side airbag disable the passenger side?
Upgrading to an aftermarket wheel with quick release and hub lock and was wondering if removing the driver side airbag will disable the passenger side? Car is a 1994 Civic CX.

Not to mention that if you remove a safety feature from a vehicle and you get into an accident, even if it is obviously the other guys fault, it automatically makes it your fault. My wife's cousin went through that. That's how i know.

Then there's the fact that you'll fail state inspection in most states for not having a factory installed safety feature, if you state requires them.

When I picked up my hatch and started going through it, the previous owners FUCKED up the srs system. everything was a mickey moused job, they even cut through the srs wire harness at random spots, couldn't explain why.

If they're like the '96 - '00 airbags you can use a dummy resistor on the driver's side from a '96 - '00 CX model that only has a driver's side airbag, they had a resistor in place of a passenger's side airbag so they could use the same control module in models with both driver's side and dual airbags.

I was reading around and apparently alot of people passed inspection with a aftermarket wheel, just gotta have a working horn. The car already throws an SRS light and the steering wheel is pretty worn out. Hell I drive a 91 Civic STD with no airbags.

"Reading around" means nothing unless you were reading on a specifically regional forum. Different states (and to some extent, different localities), different laws.

I need proof of this. That is so utterly stupid, my mind is blown.
I'm not sure if it was mentioned, but if you got pulled over, you could be ticketed for removing the airbag. Is it likely? Not really, but depending on the state/officer it's possible.

i talked to a law enforcement officer and he told me that most officers (at least that he knows of) aren't trained to be able to identify state inspection violations. so if you do get a ticket for one, chances are he/she is just out to get you
