S4C 99-00 Si tranny, just put it in, it was sittin for over a year with no fluid, has a new diff and i finnaly get the shift linkage on to find out that its stuck in one of those gears, the shifter has mad play going left to right, but you cant get it into any gear going forward or back, litterally like a circle..... i know its not the diff cuz its a new diff, replaced the ball sphear, and spring.....put fluid, but its stuck.....what the *uck ive been reading up, and some people say it might be a broken shift fork or something with the shift fork for whatever gear its stuck in? somebody please help me out

Have you tried another shift linkage? or replacing the bushings if they are worn? Maybe the bitch pin isn't pushed in all of the way?

If the bitch pin isn't pushed through the shift linkage it might not be able to get in gear.

If it is in all the way and the shift linkage isn't the problem (good bushings.. doesn't work with another shift linkage.. ect..) then I would go with some misaligned/bent/or broken shift forks.

Honda tranny's sucks like that... sometimes when the bell housing gets dropped on it might knock a shift fork out of place and may not go into gear.


Check the little things too... good clutch release/pedal play, clutch fluid level good, no air in hydraulic lines...

well the linkage is new now bends or nothing, minty fresh, bushings are straight, now about the bitch pin, i braught a new one from honda, but didnt put it in because of the rain today, so i put a thin little bolt in it just to see if i can pull it out of nuetrul, but the bolt is mad loose in there, but i should still be able to get it out of gear right? and the clutch and flywheel are new, and brand new clutch pilot bearing and release bearing is new

With the bolt in place of the bitch pin it should be able to move around in gear as long as there isn't too much play. I would hammer the pin in place and check if that works either way since it's made to go in there more than a small bolt .

i didn't say it was but it's worth a shot using the right part.

if that doesn't change anything you could have a shift fork problem... or a really [freak]ed up synchro

i think it might be one of those, cuz right now its in a high gear, and with the clutch down its fine, but when i let go of the clutch its in gear, so theres nothing wrong with my clultch or flywheel, but if its a fork, how would i know it would look bent or broke?

you would have to take off the bell housing and visually inspect the shifting assembly unfortunately

thats gonna suck, my cars to low to take just the tranny out, now i gotta pull the whole motor just to get to the tranny, thats gonna be a bitch

just jack the car up, unbolt the tranny from engine, lower the car, separate, ????? profit! lol

taking the whole motor out would be a lot more of a headache at this point

i put the bitch pin in, and now the shifter is stiffer then a freaking rock, i cant move it a quater of an inch, its litteraly stuck not moving at all

Pull the tranny, take it apart and find out whats wrong. I mean if its stuck in gear and the linkage is good even if someone could tell you what was wrong with it you'd still have to drop the tranny and take it apart anywhy. You'll have better luck asking something like this in the transmission and drivetrain forum btw.

how about i just looked in the bottom of the tranny and remembered that theres 2 bolts next to eachother on the gear casing side on the bottom both have a spring and ball in each, i took both of the bolts and both springs and both ***** out and the shifter shifts better then it was before this happend, it actually feels like what it would of felt like brand new from the factory, i shifted in all gears befor i put the bolts, springs, *****, while the car is off, and made sure it was in nuetral in the middle, put all the bolts and springs and ***** back in the pair i took off, and now its perfect, this is for all the people that think they [freak]ed there tranny try it out it [freak]in works
