Thinking about buying a timing light - What features should I look for?
So im thinking about buying one is there anything (features etc) that I should be looking for?

i would just get a basic one, no **** on the back or anything. its a pretty basic device so there aren't really a ton of differences to compare

if you want to get fancy, i would get one with a digital timing advance and rpm readout.

thanks everyone for you input. Here's where i'm stuck if timing is supposed to be degrees BTDC how do i know if its right or not if i don't have the digital one with a timing read out ?

@dpetro1 i'm kinda new to all this so your patience is appreciated.... but for my car 00 civic dx the timing is 12 deg BTDC which i thought meant that when the light flashes that that red mark is 12 deg behind the tdc mark .... correct me if im wrong ?

it will be the middle mark of the group of three. slightly away from the single tdc mark

The ignition timing is set correctly if the red mark on the crank pulley is aligned with the pointer on the lower timing belt cover. The pointer aims like a sight on a gun. This is done with the engine fully warmed up and the service connector jumped (see diagram).
