Default Swap problems

so ive spent about an hour searching and im still continuing to do so. here is my story:

Just swapped a b18c into a del sol which had a b16a in it to begin with. right now it idles at a steady ~1050 rpms. when the gas is pressed sometimes it hesitates and wants to bog out, sometimes it seems to work fine. there are check engine lights on and i will check which codes are thrown tomorrow as well as re-check all the vacuum lines. there is 1 sensor that i couldnt find where it goes though, if it goes anywhere at all. its a gray plug with yellow/black and red wires. its under the intake manifold close to the alternator. the b18c is a jdm obd1 running on a jdm p72. i did wire in the iab. the pink wire went to A17 on the ecu, and the black went to ground.

any suggestions will be greatly appreciated!
(i think thats all the info lol)

the sensor sounds like the evap purge which jdm motors don't have, other than that we need to know which codes you are throwing

that black/yellow wire is a 12V+, not a ground. the pink/blu wire goes to the ECU which completes the circuit @ 5750 rpms (or something like that), and then activates the IABs. My pink wire was wired to A17 like yours, and I wired the black one to the 12v+ from the O2 sensor (since I didn't have one, and they were spare wires). Right now your ecu is trying to complete a ground on a circuit thats not there.

Lesson in electrical wiring...black doesn't always mean ground (although 90% of the time it does). Hope this helps. Good luck.

so its a 12v+. i heard u can wire it to A20. is this correct? and ya i did assume it was a ground as well as asked for advice on it. someone else said it was a ground. do you think thats the reason its running like crap?

yes, wire it to a 12v+ and it should cure your problems, unless your CEL is caused by something else.

if I remember, an IAB CEL can cause your car to go into limp mode, causing it to bog and not rev above 4k. Not sure if A20 is a 12V+,but I know its for the EVAP. try starting the car and check the wire for a signal, if its a constant 12v, then I dont see why you couldn't wire it.

just checked my manual, it seems the red evap wire @ A20 is also a ground.

Think about it this way, It's easier for the ecu to complete a ground signal for each sensor, than to supply a 12V, so im guessing most, if not all sensors ground to the ecu and get a 12v from the other wires which connect to the fuse box. The manual I have shows that both the evap and the IAB share the same black/yellow wire which supplies the 12v+ If your stock car had an EVAP already wired, tap your IAB blk/yel wire into that, then you should be all g

k so i found out why i hooked it up to a ground. apparently the obd2 iab goes to A17/ground. the obd1 goes to 12v+ and it uses the same signal for the o2 sensor. i dont have a book for this motor :p so i guess ill try hooking it up to the evap sensor plug and see what happens. thanks for the input
