Default sticky/jerky gas pedal and throttle body

I've had this problem before, and the dealership took care of it for free during an inspection, so I'm not quite sure how to get rid of this SUPER ANNOYING deal. When I depress the gas pedal to accelerate, it won't go in at first, but after the first tiny bit of pressure, it depresses in a jerky way, kinda "bumping" down. it's this way all the time when I go from no gas, to some gas. Once I am cruising along and I need to accelerate more, the pedal requires somewhat more pressure to depress than when this problem was non-existant.

I've heard I need to take my intake off and clean around the t.b. plate, and maybe lubricate the spring on the outside assembly, but today I noticed there was a certain type of jelly on the spring. I am afriad to clean it off and re-lube with wd40 because I am not sure if that jelly is the required lubricant.

If anyone has any advice, I'd appreciate it.

p.s. - the spring and t.b. cable are black and pretty grimy.

You pretty much answered your own question...Just get some thick grease...not too much of course...and put it on after you take the throttle body OFF of the intake mani. Make sure you have a new throttle gasket just in case. Clean the crap out of everything and reassemble...after you use a q-tip to lube the spring...just enough lube...not so much that the crap is "gOOpy".
