The block code for starters.

If it's jdm, it will have any numbers after the last letter of the block code designation.

For example: the USDM LS motor will say B18B1, whereas the JDM LS motor will simply say B18B.

Another example: the USDM GSR motor says B18C1, and the JDM GSR says B18C.

If it's JDM, it'll be harder to trace back to see if it's stolen/legit, seeing as the only traceable part will be the block's serial number (the number below the block code designation) on the front of motor where it bolts to the transmission.

If it's USDM and newer than 1995, it should have a VIN plate on it, that can be ran online, at your local precient/auto crime, or carfax'd.

Regardless of origin, I hope you got a receipt or bill of sale from the seller, in any case.

If you want help identifying whether you have a JDM or USDM transmission, just let me know and I'll advise you on that as well.

There are certain exceptions, like the B18C3 is a UKDM motor, etc.

But generally speaking, and for the OP's purpose, it's going to be B18B for JDM or B18B1 or whatever.

I was pm'ing an h-tech member that lives in japan supposedly.
He said there are no JDM b18b's. He said integras over there are b18c1,b18c5, or sohc

I really doubted this but he assured and reasurred me.

Doesn't have to be from an integra to be JDM. Not sure exactly what year integras (I think 93+) but just as an example I do know that the B18B came in certain year Honda Domani's. Kind of an accord looking civic. So they did have the B18B in jdm cars.

His screen name is "What."
The word What with a capital letter W and a period after the word

And he swore to me that there were NO jdm b18b's

It sounds kinda silly that japan gets all the cool engines/cars; but their integras have d15b's

Im not quiet sure where the engine originally came from. Here in america the b18b1 are from the integra rs/ls/gs models. However, the fact that the block is stamped b18b without any numbers after it clearly means that it came from japan. You can search and figure out exactly where the engine came out from.

also the fact that he says the integras over there (meaning in japan) has b18c1, b18c5 motors.. common now.. you would know that those are usdm motors having the numbers at the end. If he knew anything he would have at least said that the integras over there only comes with b18c motors.

Every European engine I've found so far has a number at the end (X##X#), as have all other engines I've found from other countries besides Japan. I've only found one Japanese engine with a number at the end of the code (CA6, Accord Coupe J, A20A3 - you won't end up with one of these in a Civic, at least not by any sort of accident).

Domanis had the B18B in Japan IIRC. There are no JDM B18C1 or B18C5 engines in Japan. They're all labeled B18C. Yes, Integras over there come with 1.6L SOHC engines.

The next information is from the Japanese Honda parts catalog.

The following JDM cars came with the B18B stock:

DB1 - Integra ESi sedan
DB7 - Integra ESi sedan
EL1 - Orthia GX
MA5 - Domani Si
MA5 - Domani Si-G

The following Integras came with the ZC (haven't looked much into it, I'm sure some are SOHC and some are DOHC):

DA1 - Integra GS
DA1 - Integra GSi
DA1 - Integra LS
DA1 - Integra ZS
DA5 - Integra RXi
DA5 - Integra TXi
DA5 - Integra ZXi
DA7 - Integra RX
DA7 - Integra RXi
DA7 - Integra ZX
DA7 - Integra ZXi
DB6 - Integra ZX
DB6 - Integra ZXi
DB9 - Integra ZXi
DC1 - Integra ZX
DC1 - Integra ZXi

There "are" jdm integras with b18b's.

That guy you were talking to must be from the Jdm part of Japan.
