Default Solutions for loud exhaust

So long story short, my exhaust is a a d16y8 header on a d16b7, with a summit racing DOT approved catalytic converter, some ~2.25 crappy piping from when I bought the car, a ~14-16" resonator and a 2006 SI muffler.

When I got the car it had a cracked y7 header and the apexi style ebay exhaust. So over the course of a few months I got the header and cat replaced, and the muffler on. It sounds a LOT better and a lot quieter than it was.

So, my basic question is recommended solutions to quiet the exhaust down. Another ~14-16" resonator wont fit.

Would a 22" resonator make a difference? just replacing the one I have?

Ideas welcomed :D

the stock exhaust on civics are double pipe at least the older ones are. it would be more work but if you want a quieter civic you can try double piping.

a longer resonator might help but you can also try looking for a muffler designed to be quieter.

putting a heat resistant insulation around the exhaust pipe could also help

I have an 18 vibrant res with a vibrant street power muffler and it's quiet to my standards.

If they made a magnaflow 22" res in my diameter I would have got that. I would get either the vibrant or magnaflow. The quieter The better.

Anyone think a longer resonator to replace my current one would be a good solution?

I've also not looked much into more specialized resonators (i.e. hushmaster) I've heard of several good ones.

For sure the longer the sound waves are suppressed the better.

Summit racing has some Jones AR series aluminized 22" resonators for like $22. I might just call my exhaust guy and see if he can get me a similar resonator for less installed.

Thanks guys. I'll try that. Should be around $50 to get it sorted out.

yea the longer it is the more room sound has to resonate and get "lost" by the end of it.

hit up that 22 and let us know.
