Default Reset ECU after CEL without fixing problem

So my CEL came on two weeks ago. I jumped the service connector and it indicated Code 67 Catalyst low efficiency. (same as P0420). I remembered the time it came on, I drove over a tiny bump on the freeway and the CEL came on, so I figured MAYBE, because of a bump, the CEL came on by mistake.

So, just to really see if the CEL will come on again, I reset the light. I've driven 800 miles or so since I reset the light. The CEL hasnt come back on. I did an oil change and the car runs smooth as it has since I got it a couple of years ago.

Has this happened to anyone before? Is it ok? Will the CEL come on again if it sees a problem?

I have the same problem as you. If I reset the ECU the code will still come back on. The reason being is that I have a test pipe.

If my code was coming back, I'd see there is a problem.

The problem is... the code isnt coming back.

Then there isn't a problem.

I would just wait until it comes back (if it comes back at all) to take any action at all.

inermittent <sp> code. Don't worry about it till it comes back hard.

Thats why I ask here and see what people's thoughts are before I cough up the cash to get it even checked.

I figure I'll wait till it comes on again. Doesn't the ECU check three times (read this when I searched) before the CEL is displayed? If so, the CEL SHOULD come back on depending on the intervals the ECU checks.

**** if I know what I'm talkin about but I hope you get it.

Thanks for the replies guys.
