Weird CEl problem
ok i recently converted my turbo'd gsr back to a straihgt ls motor....and finally got it running back on p75 ecu w/ o2 to boot! Only problem im having is every now and then ill kick a CEL...no change in driving or idle....just has a cel....now if i turn the car off...the cel magically dissappears....as if i pulled the ecu fuse and reset it....try and pull the code and i get nothing...
any ideas guys...even this one is stumping me

your totaling missing my point...normally on any other car ive ever worked on...you can turn it off and back on and the code is till held until you reset the ecu or pull the battery...
soon as i ign off...the code is cleared...when i go to check it jumpin the service pin...all i get is a ecu response code....no trouble codes...comprede

hmmm i think its good...pulling it stops the fuel pump from priming...so considering it still runs...id assume its good...but ill double check tommorrow...couldnt get it to kick a code tonight...and its always so random...some days it does and sometimes it doesnt...

that could be very well the problem...after de-turboing it a lot of changes were made...

That is completely normal......... My integra would throw a code and as soon as I cut the car off the cel went away and would'nt come back on untill I drove it again.

it is never normal to have a cel come on for any reason, or for it to reset itself. it may be a common problem, but is not normal. there is a problem for sure, the seriousness of it just might not be very high.

I never said it was normal for a cel to come on, cel = check engine light. I said it is normal for a cel to come on and after you turn the car off for it to go away. It has been my experience that it depends on the cel and what is causing the problem. Sometimes the cel will remain on even after you restart the car, sometimes it wont. There is a problem, check the code while the car is running.
