I'm going to be replacing my thermostat later today, and was wondering if I could just replace it or is a radiator flush necessary?

you always have to do a search first.....there is plenty of info on this. and if the mods catch you not searching they will eventually ban you from this website.

Yeah, yeah. Search I know. Settle down chief. It's not that serious. It's more of an opinion question than a factual question. Obviously you should always drain it, but if you have no money and no place to properly drain the coolant. . . . and don't feel like waiting 20 minutes for your car to warm up. . . . wouldn't you ask if it would affect your engine? Simple question of opinion. And I really doubt I would get banned for that.

it doesnt matter aslong as your engine is cold. and you can drain the fluid anywhere as long as you have a water hose to dilute the fluid.

i would drain it........radiator fluid will eventually lose its effectivness over a period of time. now you have to ask ureself, do i want my radiator fluid freezing in my block?

Now would be a good time to replace it.

you don't have to because either way that **** is going to leak all over the placed once you take of the thermostat. But draining it would help.
