Default Overheating when stopped

Having a problem with overheating. While driving the car, temp is okay. When i pull into my driveway to park the car, temp needle goes up to HOT. When I rev the engine, heat goes down a bit. When the engine is off, coolant just splashes out of the overflow container. Not sure what the problem is. I put in new coolant and changed the temp sensor. Also removed the thermostat. Thanks.

Hmmmm.....

Try checking your water pump, not sure if that could be an issue.

Well when your driving the air is passing your radiator and pulling some heat away when you parked its not doing that, the fan should be assisting if your not moving.... Is the fan working i'd check that.

It sounds like you either have a ton of air bubbles in the system or your headgasket is leaking. I had a similar problem, although oil and water were not mixing until it blew completely. You should check your exhaust with your hand and see if the air coming out of there is very humid, because if it is you could have a HG leak.

Start by checking whether the fan runs when the engine overheats in the driveway.

The fans do turn on and I did bleed the system a couple of times. Could the radiator be bad also? The car runs good. I removed the thermostat just to see if there are any changes. The water pump is fairly new, about 200 miles on it. If the radiator is plugged, how do i unplug it?

The same thing happened to me when i was driving, the temp was fine. But when i was at a stop light or drive thru it would heat up bad. The problem was a faulty water pump.

I'll try the water pump replacement and see what happens. Thanks for the info.
