That's what ithought too, but I'll just tear it apart again to double check everything, so t hurt to double check and be on the safe side.

Never hurts to double check but, if the mechanical timing were off by even one tooth, you would not be able to set the ignition timing to spec.

i had the same problem... i switched out thermostat & its gasket, water pump, changed my hoses, and i even replaced the fan switch and the fan itself =_= but turned out to be faulty head gasket.
