Default Radiator Fan not turning on

I´ve continuously been having issues with my Civic overheating so I recently bought a complete gasket set and replaced all the gaskets. I´ve also replaced the thermostat, water pump, timing belt and temperature switch. After doing all this the fan would not come on, so after reading other threads I jumped the switch and fan came on. I went out and bought the cooling fan switch but Cooling Fan Does Not come on.

I´m really stumped and running out of options....need help.

State the year and engine of your Civic, and bleed the cooling system.

I have a 98 Civic DX, and have bled or burped the cooling system as mentioned in other posts where it indicates to top off the system with coolant run with the cap off for 10-15 mins to get all the air out and then top off again.

I´m getting desperate, this morning on my way to work, I stopped at a gas station and car wouldnt start back up again, same symptoms I had before doing all the replacements to it.

Not that one exactly, I did the same thing except that with the cap off, heater on, and the fan came on but at a higher temp than normal and only stayed on for about 5 secs then shut off again.

After another try at it, the fan didnt come on at all and the temp keeps climbing.

Bleed the cooling as I described and then go from there.

Alright, I´ll do it on my lunch break and then give it run, will reply with the status of it. Do you think it could also have something to do with the ECT sensor? This was my initial hunch after reading some threads but people at parts stores told me otherwise. Just want to stop guessing and buying things that I may not need.

Your radiator fan doens't come on unless it's very hot. My radiator fan hasn't come on once this whole winter, it's been zero degrees the whole time. it comes on in the summer when it's 80+ degrees outside.

these cars' cooling fans are sensitive to air bubbles for sure, my fan takes forever to come on, but if it's not bled properly, forget about it.

there are tests for the coolant temp. sensors in the factory service manual to help you avoid futile replacements.

Well I bled the system as mentioned in the thread provided but fan still did the same thing. So I went out and bought the ECT sensor and bled the system once again but the temp gets well over normal operating range and the fan only comes on for about 5 secs then shuts off but the temp never drops at all. What I did notice is that for those 5 secs the fan runs slower than normal but when I jump it, it runs just fine. I really dont know what else to try or do anymore.....any other suggestions?

The good thing is that the ECT sensor solved my rough cold starts in the morning.

Found the problem with mine. Leaking head gasket. Do a compression test and check if its good or not.
