new to electronics, a couple questions about it...
so far i have changes plugs, wires, dist. cap, rotar, ignition coil, regular oil changes, cleaned throttle body(want to clean the sensors) just recently changed the trans fluid, and coolant. i also treated the trans, and oil with lucas products. and i used the fuel injector solution twice also. the car has been sluggish though, before it warms up its usually fine (going to work) but later when its already warm outside it starts out okay, but once i come to a stop and then go situation,it doesnt want to seem to accelerate, sometimes it will sort of okay, then when i reach 50mph it reeeeally doesnt want to go any faster it just makes a low hum. i bought a multimeter and followed the steps on troubleshootmycar.com to test the tps sensor and the map sensor. most of it checked out fine im just not sure of 2 things. the tps was at .5v like it should, and an open throttle was at 4.9 should be 5? doesnt seem significant enough to matter. so when i slowly opened the throttle it crept up slowly the way it should untill it went from 1.9 to 2.0, it didnt necessarily skip but read "1.7, 1.8, 1.9, 0.0, 2.0, 2.1" and so on. so idk if that saying 0.0 was considered a skip, or jump in numbers. if so then i will replace it. and for the map sensor all checked out but when i tested the ground it read 11.3v instead of 12, again not sure if it is significant enough to matter. and ideas would be greatly appreciated

if the voltage drops to zero at one point, it has a bad spot in it, it works just like a volume control where you get a bad spot, as far as the lucas, the crap will destroy your seals over time, it makes the seals expand then later on they will shrink, especially in the transmission. I lost an entire PS system on my 86 because of their stop leak, had a very minor leak, so I thought that might fix it, I even called them to ask if it was compatible with Honda PS systems and the Honda fluid, and was assured it was, two weeks later couldn't keep fluid in the system, it was pouring out the rack, the pump, the speed sensor, just everywhere. I ended up having to get a rebuilt rack, rebuilding the pump, taking the speed sensor apart and replacing the O rings in it, and having to replace several rubber hoses, and since the filter in the system is sealed in the reservoir, I had to replace it, it was clogged with gunk from the seals. Everything I took apart, the seals were just mush. I wouldnt put a dam thing they make in my car every again, it's snake oil

wow. thats great info to have, thank you. and that sucks really bad! ill stop using it, i have only been using honda fluids so im sure they have them for a reason, right? lol...well, im hoping to soon get a full gasket kit. ive been skimming options and reviews. and just need to figure out when and where i can work on a project like that. i have one more question about the tps if you dont mind, could that be why it it really only does it when i get to 50 mph? maybe thats that one spot thats bad?

it's very possible, it's a variable resistor and is mechanical, they just wear out, and have a finite life span, as far as the Lucas, I asked one of their reps about it at the big swap meet here, and he swore it couldn't have been the Lucas, bullshit, it was a minor drip until I used it.

i believe it. i was with my dad while i was using it and he was a little indifferent about it (he is my car encylopedia.) but when i poured he started getting a little leary on how thick and gluey it was. so i did end up putting less than it said. but i still poured enough that im sure it didnt matter. that was about 65 miles ago, its been running good except the sluggish acceleration sometimes, which was there before but not as much as the last few days. i belive it is also running rich, and i hate those words. my last car ran rich right into the junk yard. but it was a chrysler it was a quick 'i need a car now' buy. but i love this civic so so much. and i know it has so much potential.
