Re: My car waists a lot of gas
My car doesn't have o2 sensors could that be a problem? The engine harness is an auto obd2 With a obd1 jumper. It car runs fine. Except sometimes when I pop v for example in 2nd gear then shift to third and drive regular the car feels as if its jerking as I accelerate but the rpms don't fluctuate.

I have a 1998 EX manual too, no swaps, a D16Y8.
Does you fuel gauge rise or fall while cornering or incline/declines?
The fuel tanks aren't baffled and causes this as well as inaccurate readings.
I thought mine was getting poor gas mileage too during the first few months after I purchased it (7 months ago). I got new wires, cap, rotor, and plugs but didn't help.
3 months ago I decided to see just how far I could run the gas gauge down below the red (empty) line. I carried around a 1 gallon gas can as soon as the gauge was level with the red line. Not to surprisingly I drove another 70 miles before it stalled and the gauge needle was clearly below the red line.
Please now, everyone dry your tears I am really not a hero. Although I put my fuel pump in jeopardy for this forum and it's quest for knowledge. Just knowing that I may have helped solve one of thousands of civic questions, gives me great joy and content.

Re: My car waists a lot of gas
thats totally false o2 sensors regulate how much fuel the engine is getting compared to how much air and it changes the mixture on the fly so that the engine runs more smoothly and slightly lean for gas mileage in open loop your car will run rich

21.25 mpg so there is room for improvement. I can get 32 mpg in my gsr swapped hatch if I try. That's running a 2.25" cai, junk2pro IM, hytech header, 60mm exhaust on a stock p72. If I am mostly hwy than it is down to around 26 mpg. Both with ac off at all times.

So lately the car has been getting worse its starting to become harder to start the car also sometimes when I stop at red lights the car idles down to 500 or even lower and the car is running super rich I can smell gas in the exhaust. Also when I pulled out a spark plug out while it was running I didn't get a spark when I put it to ground. But none of the cylinders did that . But the car does run wierd when I unplug the plug and runs better when I put it back on. So it is firing the cylinder but it may be just a weak signal. I'm going to be replacing the cap and rotor today then the coil if it doesn't help.

I dont know much about swaps or tuning at all but if your running a gsr swap, meaning stock internals, why dont u try to run a gsr ecu instead of the chipped p28. Maybe the tune is really rich. Also that b16 tranny is going to rev super high on the freeway, so that could be a cause of bad mileage but i dont think it would cause 200 miles to the tank but i could be wrong. Also since you dont have an 02 sensor that be a reason as well problem.
