Default JDM D15B Swap.

Is this motor worth getting? and what would i have to change out or is it a complete drop in with all the same wires and same ecu?

in a 94 civic dx

for a cheaper fun swap, yes its a good swap. you will need the ecu that comes with it (p08) and the vtec wiring harness and since yours is a dx, i dont think the subharness is wired for vtec.

[freak] a B They suck! i hate when people always tell me to get one [freak] that! If ima put money into a swap why a shity B ? I'm gonna go for a H22 or K20.

I see singles beating B's all the time cause the B's are so heavy and don't make up for there hevyness with the torque.

look up the weight differences and i think you will be generally surprised. a passenger in a car would make a bigger difference that what your saying.

i think if u have swap experience then h swap is the only one worth doing but thats if u want to go all motor.a b swap makes sense if ur going to turbo it..

@ 00b20vtecoupe : his single might beat you, since the torque won't make up for the heavyness. haha. funny guy, huh?

eh. the torque might not be much but its a little higher then d-series. i think you might go faster in a b though cause of top end. but who am i but a guy who knows his stuff. and who is travis but a 16 year old kid on his myspace but 20 on this site. i am trying to help him with every question but he doesnt care to listen to advice.

much love for guys who after all this still try to help out this newb

on topic travis. if you want more power go b-series. if you want gas mileage, stay d. and if your not sure...

...dont do anything but search for some answers

EDIT: sorry i had to bold what was important.

I have driven many B's and i love them they are torquey is [freak] and will burn the tires for ever. but as of 20mph rolls they don't do good. not as good as a little single cam. from the dig they barely beat singles depending on whos driving. a JDM B16a in a 93 civic coupe ties with my brothers d16z6 coupe. same body only the d16 has header and JDM is stock. and their tied. B's are fun is hell. my brother owned a 2000 civic Si when i was younger and he let me use it every once in a while and that [freak]er is a strong little motor. but im more for a H-22 or K-20 cause if ima put money into a swap imma make at least 280HP because Its for a sedan.

My dam D is NOT a gas saver. 12MPG. I would rather be driving my friends 5.0 stang and get 13MPG.

I have the old D15B7 at my house that came outa my sedan. it runs but has bent valves. I was thinking of building it with High Compression Internals. But is this motor even worth building? i wanna build it for all motor and maybe nitrious later. or should i just put a z6 head on it. or get the head rebuilt and sell it?

I don't think you'll find too many people saying that, torquier than a D-series, definately, but still not overly torquey. That said all other things being equal B-series > D-series.

Sedans are not nearly as heavy as most people seem to believe. If memory serves me correctly a DX sedan actually weighs less than an EX coupe.

In regards to the D15B Vtec, as D-series engines go they are an excellent engine, just don't expect much in the way of low end torque.
