Re: idle jumping up and down (HaTcH_BmX)
if you put your hand over the throttle body and the car does NOT
die...you have a vacum leak.IF you put your hand over the throttle body
and the car does die....YOU DO NOT HAVE A LEAK.hope this helps you get up and running.

Re: (vtakvtrak)
hey man.. this is pissing me off... i changed the the IM and TB gasket and nothing.. i realized that the IACV is working just fine... i checked with two wires connected to the battery and i heard the click click so it was working...i turned the car on... and placed my hand on the throttle body and the car didnt shut off... so i know for sure i have a vaccum leak... but i cant ******* find it... i can hear air coming off somewhere but cant find where... everything is connected... i took the IM out and made sure i put every single hose back in its place... but it's still doing the same annoying up and downs... if the master cylinder is fucked... can that cause the idle problem??? the knock sensor (i believe) was disconnected but i dont thing that is causing the problem...any tips on finding this vaccum leak.. the gaskets are not making the problem...the hoses are all connected... im lost...
thanks

well try this.there is a little port inside the throttle body that leads
to the iac.put your finger over it,if this port still has vacum on it after
your car has warmed up....your valve in the iac is not closing all the way or is stuck.if you do not have any vacum on the port...then it is doing it's job.
from the way it sounds your iac is defective.but it is hard to fix something
over the net.but try what i have stated and let me know.

I know you said you already checked/cleaned your FITV but I think this is worth trying. Take off the FITV (again), take off the cover that exposes the white piston, and turn the white piston all the way so that it is all the way closed. Then, back off a little so that there is only a very small gap for air to go through when your motor is cold. If you're sure it is not the IACV, you either have a vacuum leak somewhere or your FITV is letting in too much air when cold, and/or not sealing to block airflow when warm. Don't forget to bleed the coolant system when done.

when i took the FITV out... the white plastic piston was just hangin there.. as soon as i opened it.. it fall on the ground... i tightened it up all the way back.. but not really really tight.... im pretty damn sure it's a vaccum leak.. but i cant find where it's coming from... i'm getting a new IACV tomorrow and see what happens ... if that doesnt solve the problem.. it's a vaccum leak for sure... but the thing is that i cant find it... it's stupid...
thanks for all the help guys... i really appreciate it...

Re: (HaTcH_BmX)
ok.. the IACV is not causing the problem.. i changed it with my friends and it's doing the same thing.. i also checked inside the throttle body and there was vaccum on the hole..... but what i found today is what i think is causing the problem... but i need your help because i dont know what this is called...and i need to order one ASAP...it's the black thing on the right of the IM...i think it's broken because it's leaking air from top and from the side of it.....

Re: (HaTcH_BmX)
That is the evporation valve soleniod. There should be a hose connected to the bottom of that valve going to the intake. Plug that hose and it should stop the surging. This valve causes vacuum on the chrarcoal cannister to purge the fuel vapors from that canister. It is an emission device that will need to be replace before you have it inspected. See this link to see a picture.
