Default Help blue smoke a lot! 93 Civic DX

My 93 civic dx all original motor 200k it's blowing a ton of blue smoke so it's my dd for now. Im also burning a lot of oil and when i change the oil it will turn black quick..The car runs like a champ there are no other problem besides the smoke.

My question is how reliable is it going to be? How long will it last like this because i wont replace the motor until it goes out completly like i said it runs perfect but smokes at idle rev everything

If i keep adding oil when it burns it will i be okay? Or can something go out because it's burning oil and smokeing bad? D15b7

Also im takeing a trip from Socal to Las vegas next week in this car.

Sure. However keep doing that for a month and you could have bought 3 motors with all the money you've spent on oil.

How much oil are you burning per week? How much driving do you do per week?

How much oil do you burn within that 400 miles? It's your call. There's no harm in adding oil as you go however the smell of burning oil from SoCal to Vegas would drive me nuts.

Well fill your oil up, drive your weekly 400 miles and then see how much oil you've lost by checking the dipstick.

my car used to do this... i spun a bearing because i got tired of checking the oil all the time, and ran it down to like about a quart of oil... plus i was always embarrassed of the blue smoke... o/p, if you have the money you could probably swap in another motor in about a day or two. why risk something catastrophic happening while you're far from home?

What causes the rings to get so bad?

Plenty of things:

Not changing oil regularly
Using different viscosity oil at once
Never letting the motor warm up
And just overall high mileage, not everything can last forever.

I have a 93 dx as well and it did the same thing. I was adding about a quart a week maybe 2 until I had enough of the embarrassment and picked up another d15b7 for $150. I didn't like smelling it and it wasn't fair to the people that were following me even if they were usually cops
