Help! 99 Civic stalls while driving!
So while I drive, my 1999 Honda Civic starts to shut itself off.. I have a hardwire valentine radar tapped to my cigarette lighter (been on for a couple years) and thats the first thing that turns off. It dims.. than slowly just goes on and off, than completely turns off. Next goes the aftermarket pioneer radio.. it turns of quickly, and turns back on.. than turns off completely.. Than the car acts sluggishly.. and slowly dies as well too.
I litterally just got my car back from Honda. And the officially changed out the recall, Ignition Switch that was very common to hondas i guess that abruptly turns off while driving. I think they fixed that, since before the fixed it.. it just dies randomly constantly. Now it gives me signals before it dies...
But after they fixed that ignition switch.. the car still wouldn't turn on. So they made me buy a brand new battery, since they said my battery is completely died (bought 6mths ago) And they can't perform any test since it's not possible when the car is dead. So I bought a brand new battery.. and they diagnosed that it was a bad alternator which i just bought a brand new one and installed the day of bring into Honda since my dad's friend said that was the problem. So i bought a new alternator and Honda installed it ($180 for labor alone).. and that wasn't the problem too. So i brought it back to Honda.. and this time they said it's a bad negative ground. Which was the case last year that my old mechanic found. (but when that happened than was that.. the car would run fine and never stall while driving, its just when u turn off the car, it would not turn back on. It NEVER stalls while driving)
So what could be the problem? I changed out my alternator, battery, and igition switch, AND got a new negative terminal for my battery... still doesn't work. The negative terminal is a 2gauge wire too btw...
Any ideas??

Re: Help! 99 Civic stalls while driving!
'96 - '98 civics had issues with the engine rubbing on the stiffiner bracket on the back of the intake manifold, '99 - '00 models aren't supposed to be affected (actually not even all '98s are supposed to be affected) but i'd check it anyway, normally the speedometer flakes out and jumps around, will throw O2 sensor codes, VSS code alternator wont charge, alternator fuse will normally blow as well.

^^ Thanks man! It was the Alternator/Speed Sensor Fuse.
Can't believe HONDA service techs did not find that.. and misdiagnose me which cost me $180 bucks!! And it was just a damn fuse that cost like a $1... How is that possible? Shouldn't a brand new alternator & battery and bad speedometer/odometer give them a hint? Geez... idiots.. /rant
