No!! Powder coating is a paint, it can't handle 1500 degree, it would burn

He needs a ceramic coating

Yep, powder coating is baked at 350-400 degrees to melt the powder and liquify it... I don't think it would last very long on a 1000* header....

Powder coating is not paint. That is a common misconception because it is sprayed like a liquid paint, but when it is being sprayed it is an electrically positive charged solid. the medium BEING sprayed (aka the headder) is negatively charged so the powder coating sticks. there are two types of powder coating, thermosets and thermoplastics. thermosets are heated once and cured to the medium(headder) and when reheated do not melt again. Thermoplastics are quite the opposite, they melt each time it is reheated to the proper temperature. there are varience in compositions of powder coating. temperatures for melting range from 500 F to 4500 F. NO, you can not get an ebay kit and do it yourself. the home oven does not reach a high enough temperature to be applicable to this process.

High temp paint is also useful, but paint needs to be applied to a surface properly prepared for paint(no oil or contaminants). you must also procure a paint that meets the needs of your temperature range. your exhaust ranges 1400 Fahrenheit. so utilizing a paint for 1500 Fahrenheit is not going to be adequate.

MY CHOICE. Tungsten Carbide coating.

There are three commonly methods to deposit tungsten carbide, the first is welding whis is not as applicable to this scenario, the second is Thermospray and fuse with WC+Alloy powder (medium content of WC, heat distortion and a slight better surface). The third is HVOF. This involves the use of high tech equipment that sprays at supersonic velocities a mixture of high content of WC+Cobalt (88%+12%). This high impact produces a very good bond when the surface is properly prepared and is considered to be low-temperature. Surface like a fine emery paper. After grinding is considered a substitute for chrome in certain applications.

Just send it to Jet-hot and have it ceramic coated, it will look nice and shiny and stay that way for alot less money and trouble!

We do alot with power coated items for the US Military and the shop that does our items cures all his powders at 350-400 degrees, including the high end epoxy type. I also have a hotcoat powder coating kit at home that works just perfect with my home oven at 350... so I'm not sure where your getting your info at xero.

Ok sorry was working all day and finally got a chance to post something... First off i'd like to say again that the paint i used was rated for 2000 degrees not 1500 and was supposed to be made specifically for headers. second and probably the most important does anyone have any ideas why the paint actually stayed on the 2 pipes on the right without any fading at all and it immediately discolored the other 2? I've driven the car for a little while today and its exactly the same as the "after" picture. I read on here someone said it may be running extremely lean and turning red hot but i would be able to see that and so far have not seen it turn red at any point (besides after the paint ofc) so if anyone might have any ideas please let me know, Thanks.
Forgot to meantion that they were ceramic coated before they rusted

I can sell you a can of krylon and tell you it will withstand cruising into the sun. Doesn't always mean it's the truth. Baking is the only way to help your situation with that paint. No cure, no stick. Speaking of the sun, did you know that the space shuttles have little ceramic plates all over it? They enter the earth's atmosphere at well over 2000 degrees. Go with the Ceramic coat and call it a day. I had a ceramic coated DC header that was great. PS red is ghey

If you like red, use red. It's your car.
The ceramic is probably your best bet.
