exposed wires found inside distributor

exposed wires found inside distributor
I'm troubleshooting this intermittent studder issue where the car will drive just fine but sometime (usually while accelerating) the car will cut out momentarily then resume normal driving conditions. It doesn't feel like its 'missing' it feels like the ignition cuts out. Its never left me stranded or stalled completely. Only happens while driving.
So the first thing I did was popped off the dizzy cap and noticed the terminals were pretty corroded. Cleaned those off and then noticed something more concerning. A couple of the wires from the distributor harness are exposed from the insulation cracking and peeling off.
Questions:
How big of a concern is this? What's the fix? and could this be the problem with the studdering issues or is it more likely the corroded terminals on the cap.
Dizzy is out of the car now so I havent test drove it with the terminals cleaned up.

Re: exposed wires found inside distributor
yes anything that is exposed is a source of short circuiting.. the fix? I'd splice in a new connector or if the wire is long enough, bare the wire and crimp in a new connector.. looks like it's worn away from the f-type/spade connector.

its split at multiple locations. More than the two spots shown in the pic.
Even further down if I peel back the rubber boot exposing the inside of the dizzy I can see there's breaks in the insulation.
There's a complete TD-41U dizzy on ebay for $65 shipped. Would I be better off just getting that rather than try and repair all the wiring in this harness??
This is the farthest I've had the distributor torn down so idk how integrated the wiring is with some of these parts inside. Looks like the wiring is integrated into pickup (or whatever the black thing is on the left).

Re: exposed wires found inside distributor
those are going to the sensors built into the distributor. If you could re-wire them it shouldn't be that difficult. The reason is because it all depends on if the cyk, cyp, etc.. sensors are bad on yours, which you can do a resistance test to find out. Who knows if the one on ebay are good, could be bad sensors.. Not trying to make you do more work, just trying to help you not waste time on something if you don't have to.

If there's no distributor CEL codes, the cut out problem likely lies elsewhere. However, you need to repair those exposed wires regardless.

Re: exposed wires found inside distributor
you can use liquid tape to insulate the wires again (google it). You might have a intermittent problem with your ICM or coil causing the engine to cut out. The only way you will know for sure is to just keep driving it until it dies and run some tests or swap a known good part in to see if the problem goes away.
