EM1 b16 misfire problems
I got an em1, it runs fine and pulls really good sometimes but sometimes it will pop a CEL for a misfire and then it'll run like **** afterwards, the idle gets really low and itll misfire up till about 5k. Once I cut the car off it'll stop but it happens every now and then. I did a compression test today and it got 174-180psi on the cylinders. The only thing I noticed was there was some oil around the spark plugs. But it has a new distributer on it but you never know with those things so what would likely cause this cause it'll be a pain to get this inspected with this cel popping here and there. It has NGK plugs, and plug wires as well.

change your gourmets in your valve cover (4 o-rings) for the spark plugs if you notice oil on spark plugs. and see what that does. oil covering spark plug are no bueno could foul out the plug. change seals and plugs and see if it fixs the problem

Alright I will try and that as soon as possible. I also checked the the dizzy and there was black dust all in that, and the dizzy rotor had no bolt was in it so I changed all that with some i had laying around.

Re: EM1 b16 misfire problems
It's on thread part from what i can tell, It wasn't much but i could tell when I pulled them out last night to compression test it. And I have no clue what kind of distributer it has, it was an aftermarket one you can tell. When I got this car it had that on it. If i had changed the dizzy it would've been with oem parts for sure. I don't have a code scanner I just use the jumper in the diag port but it was code 74, I had my friend plug his scanner in at a shop and it was for misfire on cylinder 4. It came up as a pending code though when he scanned it.

that bolt/screw that holds the rotor down is important. that could also be the main problem. if it comes loose it will cause misfire and sputtering. tighten the rotor down clean all the connections and see if that helps first.

Yeah I got a new bolt for it off another distributer I had laying around. It's the only obd2 dizzy i have on my car the other 2 i have is for obd0 and obd1. But I tried to figure what it was. But idk what else there is to try, I got a friend get me a new dizzy though and its gonna be here monday so hopefully that will fix it.
