The recent content searches to not work, but the archived contents seems to work just fine. When the recent content was working, I would always search both anyway, just get to more information.

On thing NOFX, the plug for the 96-98 audio unit is on the dash harness. I think it is very easy to swap out and only requires the additional removal of the cluster and ac control bezel. So if he wants the keyless, I think he would just have to get a dash harness from a 96-98, and of course the radio.

I mounted my audio unit under the 99-00 cupholder. I cut the carpet out, shaved the edges of the faceplate (the little lip), set the unit on the tunnel, removed some plastic bracing that was unneccesary from the cup holder then mounted the cup holder. Fits nice and snug and you'd never guess to was there. I also still have the ability to reach under the console to push the "valet" button for an programming I need to do.</TD></TR></TABLE>
I used to have keyless in my '98 EX. I hid the deck in the dash, but to fit I needed to remove the face. Eventually it could no longer be reprogrammed, so the keyless stopped working.

That's what I mean.

Also, I understand the want for the dash harness for keyless. but it's still a pain when you don't need/want keyless. It's not really something that's included with the wiring for the power doors.

I just don't have anymore money to have someone put it in. Or I would trust me! Its like shops out here are lost when I ask them if they can do the conversion. So far this thread is pretty straight forward.

The rear wiper I believe plugs into the floor harness. If you want your rear wiper to still work, you need to modify the harness so you can connect it. Otherwise the wiper has no power. At least I believe this is the problem. I don't have a DX hatch so I haven't ever done that before.

Ideally you would like to get the entire EX doors, or be able to gut the doors yourself. This will allow you to see EXACTLY where everything goes and where everything attaches.

We stripped the '98 EX ourselves so we could use the parts on the '97 CX.

You will need to search for the other thread if you want the rear wiper to work. The CX has no rear wiper so I did not have to modify anything.

Listen to NOFX, she knows what she's talking about and will never steer you wrong. Yes its plug and play, you may have to pull 3 or 4 wires from the old harness and pin them into the new harness for your rear wiper to work, thats really the only thing you may have to modify.

I just want power windows. Can I use the floor harness out of an LX? I figure it would work fine, I'll just have to not use a few wires and do a little modding. Thing is, I never see EXs at the junkyard, atleast not in the EK body style. There are a few LXs out there. I'm atleast going to try and pull the regulators and what not tomorrow. I hope those will work on a two door, I don't see why not.

No, you cannot use an LX harness.

I mean, you can I suppose, but there is no point at all to it.

1 - The LX comes in sedan form only. At the very least you're going to end up with a wiring mess.

2 - The LX does not have power windows and locks (according to the parts catalog).

3 - The sedan regulators and other internal door parts are not the correct size to fit the longer coupe/hatch doors.

If you find an EX it WILL have a moonroof. Basically any '96-'00 Civic with a moonroof has power windows and locks. If it has a (factory) moonroof it is either an EX or an Si. This includes the EX coupe, EX sedan and Si coupe. You want the parts from a '96-'98 EX coupe.

I was reading the EG swap article, and the guy that did it is using the LX harness just fine in his EG. I don't see it being too different from EKs. Like I said, there are never any EX civics out there. Maybe I'll get lucky, but I doubt it.

Also, LX, the sedans atleast, did have power options.

sedan doors are different from coupe/hatch doors so the regulators will prob be diff. also, for sure the window switches and, door panels are different. the harness is going to be too long and have extra plugs and wires for the rear doors, which you dont have.
you should look on ebay. i just won 97ex coupe regulators, floor harness, and window harness with relay for 110shipped. now i just need the window switches and im done, since i already have ctr power door inserts.
kit 110 + inserts 40 + switches? = less than 200

Looks like I checked off the wrong boxes in the thread I had made about options.

Just find an EX coupe though. It will be plenty easier.

I can't believe you can't find an EX anywhere. Sometimes you might have to join a local forum or buy from someone who will ship.

I check craigslist and the local forum (which is huge) almost daily. Like I said, I've been checking the junkyards weekly or bi-weekly and the only EKs I find are LX. I wish I would have just bought an EG... so much easier to find parts for.

I found an EX, but the guy wants quite a bit of cash. I do need the driver's side door as mine is dented, and he said $100 for the whole door, with everything on it. I'll probably grab it and see if he'll sell everything else needed to convert.

I have the opposite problem, EGs are old enough now that a lot of them have been stripped and crushed while EKs remain plentiful. Honestly everything is easy to find until your actually trying to find something

$100 for a door if its not rusty is very reasonable.

Yeah I sent him another e-mail asking if he still had it, and if he would part with the power window stuff. Basically if I just want power windows, no mirrors or locks, I need the switches, panels, regulators, and floor harness? I know I'm missing a few things.

The radio is only needed on '96-'98s that want keyless entry. It's not needed for power door locks alone.

So if you want power door locks you don't need the radio or dash harness. You would need them if you want KEYLESS ENTRY.

The EX/Si door harnesses also will allow power mirrors and tweeters btw.

So for FULL EX/Si DOORS (power windows, power locks, power mirrors, tweeters) you need the following from an EX/Si (coupe for coupes or hatches, sedan for sedans):

- Floor Harness
- Door Harnesses
- Door Panels
- Switches
- Power Door Lock Control Box
- Power Door Relay
- Fuses (add to fuse box)
- Regulator & Motor Assemblies
- Door Latch Assembly (within door)
- Tweeters (coupe ones for coupe/hatch; US sedan mounts on door panel; Overseas sedan mounts behind mirror but is difficult to find)
- Power Door Mirrors

Some of the parts must be from a coupe/hatch or from a sedan depending on which body style you have.

I think that's all, but I could be forgetting something by accident.

The easiest thing to do is gut an EX/Si and just use all those parts. I can't recall if the '99-'00 switches can be used on a '96-'98, but the harnesses you want from the same year range.
what is the diff between the power door lock control box and the power door relay

Yes it is. I just did the conversion myself but the windows do not work. the power mirrors work though.........

Anyone know the part number for the power door lock module or know exactly where its is located? I cannot find it here.

I did install the relay and complete floor harness. Hoping I missed a fuse.
