Re: dilemma... (EG6_tuner)
yeah bro i'm in your exact shoes right now. i'm 16 with my license for 2 months now and finally saved up enought for a b16 swap....then coming from school today a blazer in front of me locked up and slid off the road, i locked up on some water and went right under him. luckly it's only my front bumper and my hood's scratched. the blazer had no damage cause i went under him and his trailer hook is what messed me up. And fyi i wasn't speeding more than 1 or 2 over, i wasn't riding his ***, maybe a little close but NOTHING out of the normal for every driver.
ANYWAYS what i was getting at is save up more money cause you never know what'll happen to you. Now I have more than enough money to fix my car where as if i had spent the money already I'd be like 400 in the hole

Re: dilemma... (MassScene)
i like what you said, and how you said it, to be honest i was leaning more towards doing the swap, but i would sometimes think about it all and try and talk myself out of it, but then i would wake up and be like hey i've been dreaming of thise day for 4 years and have been working hard for two why not treat myself. i don't have any other obligations that cost much more than 10 bucks and as you said the time will come when i will needa put this hobby aside and focus on the bigger things like college but i have two years till then.
thanks for all your suggestions.
now time to do a lil more research.

Re: (luti)
my goal is to run a low 13 maybe even break into the 12's, which i'm sure will cost somme good money, i'm just not sure if i should do the b16 with that goal, do you think it's obtainiable or should i do a b18c1 swap<<<which is about a grand more that i could put into modding the b16. i have a CX so tinkering with that crap is outta the question and if you were gonna say then just swap the sohc vtec engine and save more money, nah, i'f i'm doing a swap i want dohc vtec, which in my opinon has more potential (i may be wrong).

No offense, but just because you regret what you have done doesnt mean he will. Most, not all, cars are like that. You rarley ever make your money back its kind of common sense and I'm sure most people realize this getting in to it.

except for the fact that he had zero damage to his truck cause i went under it and his trailer hitch is what fucked me up. his hitch had red paint on it and that was it, plus i knew him and he was cool about it and no cops were involved and insurance doesn't know.

Re: dilemma... (specie)
i already give half of every single one of my paychecks to my mom, and have been doing so since i started working which was the week after i turned 15. the reason behind the action is for my tuition, cell, and insurance, i give a lot sometimes not enough, but hey i'm only 16 and i think i need something in recompense.
btw i should have said that a long time ago.

Make up your own damn mind
But seriously, just remember that if you spend all your money on a swap and it breaks, you're fucked. If you really want to do a swap, save your money where you can. I just turned 19 the other day, have been working my *** off for about 4 years, have a 2000 Civic Si that I paid for myself in cash up front from a Honda stealership, and have plenty of dough left over. If I were to sell my car and buy a hatch like yours right now, even with my financial situation I wouldn't do a swap. You're gonna go all motor with the B, correct? So why not try out your Turbo luck and put together a little turbo kit for your stock motor. Do it all yourself, it will be fun; I promise. Could be pretty cheap too! If your motor blows, part out the kit and the remaining engine parts and then buy your B-series. This will give you the best of all worlds: save your money for a little longer, satisfy your need for more performance, and give yourself time to get your **** together. Good luck

Never spend more then 90% of what you can afford I'm also still in college, but it sure as hell kicks ***, as everyone here gets on the bus, the old beater or train.. and after that 'hard' day of studying or taking crap at your underpayed job.. You'll be grinnin' ear to ear when you step on it and leave all your troubles in the rearview mirror!!

Re: (Twiet)
dood all these suggestions are all right in their own way just do what makes u happy. like for instance, bout almost 2 years now i been really going head first into racing. first motor was something small then eventually did more. last year i had a decently quick car for teh street 14.4 b20z swap nice wheels, good suspension, but wasnt enough for me cause i had to keep up with everyone else, went bank and bought a turbo kit installed it didnt go tuned because i didnt have enough money and ran a -40% correction on the afc hack ended up blowing a ringland because of my heavy foot and just wanting to go fast, bought a another block b16 this time and tried street tuning on free ware like uberdata and the car just never ran right, left it at my shop for a couple days one day its outside and bam someone steals the turbo kit right off my car. insurance totals the car and wont give me the money i just lost on the turbo kit, ecu ect. i only got a crappy 2700 bucks and a shot car that i havent even really enjoyed since july and still owe money on the turbo kit. :I honestly if i could do it again id never wouldve went over my head.
my point is do it if u think itll make u happy hell do the swap urself and learn how to do it(trust me its nice to say u did ur swap). just dont rush into everything take ur time and save just a lil bit more just in case for any problems or just so ull have more money to spend after the swap goes in. like now look at me buying a new shell, swapping in a d15 sohcvtec JDM swap cause its cheap and in bout 4 months ill b runnin boost again tuned and ripping hard just it takes time and waiting till i have the $$$ finances to keep up wit it and just in case money.
