Z1 is off of the VX, a motor that generates 30 less HP than the Z6. No VTEC, smaller cam profiles, smaller ports. It would be a downgrade if you got the Z1. Look for a Z6 or Y8 head.

I know the d15z1 is a VX off EG's and it has VTEC-E, just wondering this would be a good upgrade from a d15b7 head.

I think vx head would shoot the compression way up. The ports are really small and I don't think that you could port it out anywhere near the z6 size. It got roller rockers (might be good for some high revs, and a big cam if they make a cam for a vx). I nevver really looked into how vx vtec operates, it might be the same as z6.

I would get a z6 head but I can get a cheaper complete z1 head for $50. If I could get a complete z6 head for $50, it'd be all over that.

you are going to spend additional at least $200-300 (headgasket, headbolts, maybe new belt, waterpump and new ecu) when swapping heads so you might as well get a z6 head.

Buy my friends jdm d15b head for $200

thanks for the offer. I can find z6 complete longblocks locally for $250-$350. I'd rather just buy a longblock then spend $200 on a head.

I can get honda OEM stuff from a friend who works at honda for wholesale so I'm not too worried about the small stuff.

so nobody knows if there's a diff between the z1 and z6 head?

Huge diffrenence. 2 times bigger IM ports on z6 bigger IM, true vtec (I don't know how vx vtec works). distributors are the same.

oh yeah if you ever do a head swap keep in mind that cx injectors flow something like 180 when vx and z6 flow 240cc.

i c. yeah, I'm trying to get a complete head with manifold, TB, injectors, fuel rail, etc. there's no way I'd use CX injectors or CX anything on the z6 head.

the z6 head is way better than the z1. i would know personally. i bought a cx hatch with a vx (d15z1) motor. slow....

put a z6 head and p28 on it and it feels like a whole different car.

i dont think the z1 head is gonna be much of an upgrade if any at all to the non-vtec head you have on it already.

and im finding z6 and y8 heads easily for 30- 40 bucks. you just gotta look for em.

umm aside from internals, the z1 is vtec-e the z6 is NOT, the z1 makes 95hp (i believe) and the z6 makes
125...so the main difference i would say is 30hp...which on a honda is noticable lol...for the internals i'm
not too sure on the difference except for the cam bein more aggressive in the z6 and vtec hittin later
@ 4,800 vs the vtec-e on the z1 @ i believe 2,800 <idk for sure on tht...
