Default difference between b16 and GSR trans

i was jus wondering about the differences between the JDM '95 b16 n JDM '95 GSR trans, both w/ stock LSD. I know the GSR has slightly longer gears, any other differences?? Is there any reason y i shouldnt use a GSR tranny on a b16sirII??
thx

You need shorter gears to make up for no torque.

The GSR tranny has a stronger differential and *slightly* taller gears, but same final ratio.

d16 is 127hp, the b16 is 170, the small difference in gear ratio will cause my b16 to feel like it has less than 130 hp, cause ur sayin<TABLE WIDTH="90%" CELLSPACING=0 CELLPADDING=0 ALIGN=CENTER><TR><TD>Quote, originally posted by 93ejay1 &raquo;</TD></TR><TR><TD CLASS="quote">i have a z6 and ive beat an si and sol and both have b16s</TD></TR></TABLE>

I have a gsr tranny on my b16 and there is a noticeable difference. It is in a ek coupe which is heavy. It is quite a bit slower especially the 1 to 2 shift and the 2 to 3 shift. It also takes a lot longer to accelerate if you are low in the powerband (4000) due to the lack of torque.

No, the ITR gearing (for USDM) is identical to the B16 trans---the difference is the synchros and diff.

The JDM ITR gearing is the same for gears 1, 2 and 3---but the final drive is shorter, making it the best all motor tranny.

well its already on the way... the diff is stronger, n i may boost eventually so i think ill have to eat the .2 - .4 sec i may loose, im sure ill beat a na d16 n it will still be decently quick, im not too worried

Good choice. Alot of Honda people like to make alot out of nothing. You won't notice a difference and you will be getting a stronger trans, which is more important anyway. Besides, you can always upgrade your final drive to 4.785.
