d16z6 running rich? help!! with reving problem too!!
i went to a mechanic and he said i was running rich nothing but stock d16z6 swaped in and using a p06 ecu someone told me that was for d15b motor would this cause me to run rich or lean?
more info (today: aug 5th) :: this might not be why its running rich though...
a vacum line on the zc engine (sohc vtec (JDM)) there is no nossle to attach the vacum line on the back of the Intake Manifold so i was told to just plug it , and i did. the car sometimes wont stay a constant speed it either you gain speed or you slow down and when accelerating in first if u dont go to higher rpms fast enough it will stop and go stop and go...
if u are at a stop and push the gas down about 1/2 an inch and hold it there the engine goes vrroooom... nothing.... vroooommm.... nothing vroooomm. nothing but if u hold it in the higher rpms it goes vrooooooooooommmm as long as u hold it down and dont go in the lower rpms. i dont have a rpm gage. this gets annoying when driving please help fix both.!!!...!

well the oil and the coolant were NOT mixing at all but the oil was getting high and had oil on the spark plugs they said the headgasket is good they think its the different ecu putting too much gas in the engine. he thinks gas is getting into the oil.

What engine wiring harness & O 2 sensor are you using? make sure they match to the ecu. (1-wire O2 or 5-wire O2) PO6ecu is a 5-wire O2 non-Vtec ecu while the PO8ecu is a 1-wire O2 Vtec ecu. Easiest and best thing to do is use a Vtec engine wire harness, a 5-wire O2 sensor, p28 ecu and wire up Vtec(2 wires) from ecu harness plug to engine harness plug.
For the vaccum hose, just tee it into another hose .
Good luck.

Re: d16z6 running rich? help!! with reving problem too!! (mblis82)
acutally im using the cx wire harness and modified it to make vtec work (jdm engines dont have oil pressure thing anyways so i just need to add one wire and then have one spliced into that connected to the ecu (1 wire from engine and 2 going into ecu) im not throwing any codes i fixed them along time ago
this problem dosent happend all the time either (reving problem) only now and then and sometimes it will start off like that and be gone w/ in 10 min

cx harness is one wire o2
Isn't the po8 the vtec ecu?

check you pcv valve..if your runing rich..its either your timing or you have a restriction on your air inlet..check if you have a leaky injector

the oil..your prob need new o-rings for the valve cover..if you say your running lean instead of rich..check your fuel filter and check your injectors..have you serviced your injectors and manifold lately?

are the o-rings for the valve cover easy? i have gotten a new fuel filter how do i check the injectors i have a d15(non vtec (70 hp)) could i try swaping those injectors into it?

yeah the o-rings are easy..just take off the valve cover and youll see the o-rings..
the only way i think you can see if you have a leaky injector is hooking up to a machine..or maybe you can try doing a resistance check by using a meter..
