A couple of (front) brake swap questions.
Ok, I've been wrestling with gathering these parts forever now. Here's what I've wound up with:
1. 94 Prelude VTEC rotors redrilled to 4x100
2. ITR/Prelude/Odyssey calipers
3. 97 Civic EX Knuckles
The calipers fit on the knuckles but won't clear the rotors. Ugh.
I'm guessing I need the Civic ABS rather than Civic EX knuckles for this?
My next question is this - I noticed that 94+ Integra and 96+ Civic EX rotors are the same. Will the larger Integra bolt up to a Civic EX knuckle (and clear the rotor) or would I still need the Civic ABS knuckles?
Last, does anybody happen to know if the Civic EX caliper brackets will work with the Integra calipers?

Re: A couple of (front) brake swap questions. (Smashback)
I think I know the answers already but I want to be sure before buying a ton of more parts.
Looks like the Civic EX and Si knuckles are indentical, so I assume the Integra calipers bolt right up.
The Civic EX ABS knuckle is different, so I assume the caliper mounting tabs extend farther toward the outer edge of the rotor to accomodate the larger Prelude/ITR/Odyssey calipers.
BTW, I have two pair of these calipers that need a rebuild badly if anybody wants them cheap.

BUMP - Anybody have info, especially on caliper bracket compatibility between Teg and Civic EX?

Ex, abs, integra, em1 knuckles are all the same....been covered over and over.
civc abs calipers are the same size as integra calipers...same pad too.
Im not sure on the bracket...never looked

Well, that's what I thought, BUT - Civic EX knuckles won't work with Prelude VTEC calipers and rotors. They'll work with one or the other, but the rotor won't allow the caliper to bolt up to the knuckle (although the caliper bolts to the knuckle fine with no rotor there )

I was going to do the same brake swap (until I came across GSR brakes dirt cheap ). This is what I dug up from someone else on the board running lude brakes.
'93 Accord Wagon Calipers (same as Type R, same as Prelude VTEC).
in order to make this fit, you must do the following:
- swap out the steering knuckles with 94+ Teg units (i used 94 GSR knuckles)
- buy 92-95 Prelude VTEC rotors. redrill them for 4 x 100 bolt pattern
- mill 0.120" off the mounting bracket on the front calipers. they can now be mounted to the new knuckles.

Re: (vizeta)
Well, you either need to grind (bad idea) or machine the backs of the caliper brackets or use wheel shims between the rotor and hub to center the rotor in the caliper.
The issue here is the mounting tabs on the calipers can't reach the mounting tabs on the knuckles because the rotors are so damn big.
I guess nobody knows but I'm going to assume the mounting tabs are longer on the ABS and Integra knuckles. Tonight I'll see if the prelude calipers work with the EX rotors. That'd be a treat (after spending a ton of money having new prelude rotors redrilled)
Thing is, if the Teg knuckles are taller than the Civic's like I've heard, I don't want to use them on my EK. EG should be fine I assume.

Ahah, interesting. According to passwordjdm.com, the ITR 96 Spec suspension uses ITR calipers and GSR rotors. I'm going to crank out the baddest *** Honda brakes guide ever once I'm done

Nice, do it. The info I got was from someone running the lude brakes on an eg. Will it not work on an ek?

Oh, looks like they were wrong. The pads on the "ITR" calipers extend over the top of the Civic EX (GSR) rotors, no go there.
EG should be fine since it shares the Integra's suspension, but a lot of parts on the EK are different. I've read the knuckle will bolt on but if it's not indentical (i.e. changes camber, whatever) I'm leary of using them.
