Car Overheating (D16z6)
Whats good people.... I am having some trouble with my car overheating. I have a 94 civic si hatchback with a D16z6 motor in it and the other day it just started over heating and wont stop. I have changed all the hoses and added new coolant and still it will overheat after about 30min of driving or just sitting at idle. The fan for the radiator works and there are no leaks. Can someon please help me located why this is still happening.
Thanks for you help.

No I have not replaced the thermostat but if that was bad would the temp guage in the car work? Also its was the normal neon green color. I am not 100% sure how it looked honestly. But thanks for replying and helping out

Also I should add when it first started overheating you could hear like air being released from the back of the block almost like something had a leak but like I stated i changed all the hoses so I have no idea where that noise was coming from...

Well no idea on the noise, my only guess would be steam being released from the cooling system but that would be extremely visible and obvious. As far as the thermostat, your gauge would absolutely work still. The sensor for the gauge is the single wire one below your distributor and is completely separate from the thermostat. Replace your thermostat and see if that helps, its cheap and requires two bolts to be removed to replace.

Use a OEM Honda thermostat!!! Save yourself time/money in the future. Aftermarket stats are garbage but will work short-term ok. You can always just remove it if in a bind and need a quick fix till you get it replaced with quality IMO. Do NOT wait to solve this problem or drive on it overheating otherwise you will cause other damage like head gasket etc..

Re: Car Overheating (D16z6)
Well you said you replaced your hoses so....it is located in the thermostat housing, which is the spot where you attached your lower radiator hose. Just trace your lower radiator hose to where it connects to your block, there should be two bolts where it connects, you pull them out, pull out your old thermostat and put the new O-ring on your new thermostat and put it in and retighten the bolts.

A good idea to repace the thermostat as preventive maintenance. Make sure to install the gasket/jiggle valve correctly (facing up).
You said there's noise near the intake. Check for an intake leak like a cracked manifold or failed intake gasket. That could cause overheating as well.

i know when my car over heated once all i could hear and see was coolant was spraying sum where and my hose split causing ti to over heat. check ur hoses if ur hearing a hiss for cracks or pin holes in ur hose as it pressurizes it will build pressure and hiss out the split or pin hole..
