D16z6 trying to bleed coolant.
1993 delsol just replaced heater core to fix idle surging/leak.
Now when trying to bleed the coolant I have it on an incline heater on hot. I keep adding coolant waiting for the thermostat to open and fans to come on.
The fan come on for 10 to 15 seconds and takes in coolant then stops and I have to wait a few minutes for it to repeat.
My question is why doesnt it ever stop taking in coolant and bubbling? Could it be that much air trapped in my heatercore. My headgasket was done 6 months ago or so.

Keep adding coolant until it stops needing it.

Return to bleed procedure I posted. Keep adding coolant until the engine won't take any more. Also note whether engine starts to overheat. If so, stop engine and let cool.
If you suspect a leak, pressure test the cooling system.

Re: D16z6 trying to bleed coolant.
How do I properly do the block test. I Read the directions and I ended up sucking up coolant the first time. I then drained the radiator an inch then squeeze the ball for a few minutes and noticed sucking coming from the overflow so i'm not sure if I did it correctly.
Also I did try to bleed more air and add coolant but I ran out of coolant and it seemed to never stop taking in more.
Could I remove my thermostat so it bleeds all the air instantly just to figure out if its actually taking forever to bleed or actually consuming it somewhere.
Also no overheating just idle surging 50% of the time

Re: D16z6 trying to bleed coolant.
yeah I found a couple the two I found the only difference was the radiator hose going to the coolant overflow wasn't attached to the lid it was attached to the side of the overflow.
when I try to suck up the air with the tester the coolant in the overflow fills the radiator and then gets sucked up in the tester.

take the overflow hose off and plug the nipple on the radiator?
Or do you not have a stock radiator? Or, I'm not seeing the problem. I've done this test on mine, and had no problems with the overflow. Just be sure its firmly seated..
