If it really did work for him, then I can say it sorta makes sense. Yes, the common signals from the alarm devide (remote) are radio waves, and on certain phones, like analog, they give off radio waves as well. But for digital phones, you will have something like CDMA which I don't think will work. Although if your digital phone is dual-band, you can set your phone to analog and use radio wave signals. GSM phones may not work either, unless you've got one of them 1 mile pager alarm units that actually use GSM signals.

As far as thieves grabbing the frequency, they've been doing that for years. That's why there are many alarms now that do this code-hopping affect that uses a different frequency code each time the alarm's remote gives off a signal.

If you have power door lock and use your alarm to lock your door. What reason do you have for leaving your keys in the car and locking the door?
The door should lock when you arm your alarm hence requiring you to have your key/alarm remote in your hand.

Or if he has a habit of locking the door everytime he shuts it or maybe his alarm arms automatically after 30 seconds from time door is shut.

Actually I've had something weird happen t me before. I left my car running one time just to run into my friend's house for a minute. Car was running because it was winter in North Dakota. Anyway, I get out of the car, close the door and all of the sudden my alarm arms itself and locks the door. WITH THE CAR RUNNING. My alarm remote is on the key which is still in the ignition.
No big deal, I'll just call my buddy up and have him bring me my stock keyless entry remote so I can at least get into the car and use the remote. Well, turns out my cell phone is fried. To the point where I don't get any more numbers or anything. Just a click when I try to turn it on. The cell did something to the alarm to arm it. Some kind of overload. Hell if I know.
Ever since then I don't leave the keys in the car anymore if I close all the doors. I don't trust the damn thing anymore.

Can't possibly work. Cell phones only transmit what they receive through the microphone, which receieves _audio_ which is rapidly changing air pressure waves, which are totally different than radio waves. Even if the cellphone DID pick up some radio waves, it would just pick them up as interference at best, but why the hell would it TRANSMIT that?

it wouldn't.

i live up on a hill in Hawaii and there is a verizon repeater or signal distributor or what ever the term is for it right in the small little town below my house i don't know if that has something to do with it but his buddies at the air port turned him on to it. I have not tried it on my Honda i do have a cheap crime stopper that arms it self after 30 seconds and locks the keys in but as a habbit i have never locked my keys in the car the last time i did iwas living in Eagle rock 323 CA at the blockbuster on Figueroa and Colorado i still had my dz motor in my Del sol im on one of the small island of Hawaii i have not seen a crip a blood or a gang banger nor has there ever been a car jack on this island since 1945 after pearl harbor. I have a few buddies that are members slow eg and eg/ej mikeedotcom jarlee aka dc5sleeper and dc2 gsr Richmond. I miss the squad but living in Hawaii with my wife is safer than me racing the 110 South fair oaks to the 101 south or the 2 north exit to echo park hitting the gas near Dodger stadium was always cool to bad the Dodgers suck or just loose too much

So what if a thief tries it? Will it turn off your alarm?

Remote keyless entry (RKE) systems,

most cdma and gsm systems run on both 900 Mhz and 1800 Mhz...
i doubt alarms run in the same range (much higher i think)

One thing everyone who is afraid of a thief somehow recording your RF frequency for you alarm is forgetting is that 99.9% of alarms over $100 now-a-days have remotes/ recievers that automatically code jump. So using a code capturer would be useless because the code always changes.
