Default bought a hatch! yay!

I figured I would share that I just bought a 92 phantom grey metallic pearl hatch back. It's dropped on 17 inch fakey rotas gun metal w/ polished lip. The front suspension consists of slip over coils on stock struts while the rear "boasts" skunk 2's slipped over tokico blues. The interior is literally in shambles. The seats aren't quite bolted down all of the way either. There was no exhaust muffler on the car at the time of purchase so i took a trip to 30 minute muffler and got a stock gsr oem replacement installed.
I found out last night that there is a leak in the exhaust at the the spot where the header couples to the cat. One of the spring bolts are broken and when i start the car the exhaust rattles.

One nice thing about the car is that it has a b16 which was installed half-assed at best.

I'll post pics soon.

Even though there are about 100 things wrong with my car i'm still really happy I bought it!

I've got a ton of work ahead of me to fix this baby up.....

as far as spring bolts go... i said forget it when i noticed i had a JDM ITR header on my GSR and i just had the flange sawed off and straight welded it back to 2.25" complete piping with magna muffler, and magna hi-flo cat. i really really need a resonator. i am going nuts driving at 10mph and such. as far as your suspension goes, get that all changed out i wouldn't trust any of it. congrats on finding your project car!

hey thanks for the reply. I was thinking about omni power full coils. Do those work on all hatches or just the SI? I noticed it said DX, SI. I never saw VX or CX on there and I'm a VX. I don't want a loud exhaust on my car whatsoever. Are there any high flow yet quiet exhaust mufflers on the market? I cant stand the noise from the racing mufflers.

dude, my buddy paid 1900 for a 94 ex coupe with a b16, dc header, tanabe exhaust, and a descent suspension. 4500 is WAY too much for that

Silencers sound like ***. Buy An Apexi WS or an Rsr- Exmag. Both high quality high flow mufflers that sound only a little louder than stock.

Jesus, you did pay a little too much. But aslong as you're happy with the car then I guess it doesn't matter

If you're looking for quiet, Apexi WS is where it's at. Currently what I run and the only time I even notice I have an aftermarket exhaust is when I'm downshifting, and even then it's very subtle.

yeah i really love the car. I just bought a omni test pipe and a 4 into 1 for the car. The omni power coils / front rear camber kits should be here in a few days too. I'm gonna go to the shop that did my straight pipe on my diesel for a good exhaust setup (they are cool with no-cat setups...and i live in a no emissions area).

I've heard that resonators help with the exhaust pitch too, is that correct? I want a smooth crisp note that isn't loud but allows for good high flow... Thanks for naming those 2 exhausts btw. I'm gonna look into those mufflers and probably order one soon. I got a 30-minute muffler quick fix right now.

it might sound funny but i am self employed. I fish in bristol bay, AK. caught 186,000 lbs of sockeye salmon this summer @ 55 cents a pound. I also work at boeing and do side technical computing work. I've probably made around 130,000 or so this year gross profit probably 80,000 net profit. Anyway, I sold my truck for 15,000 bucks on the seattle craigslist and bought my new honda beater. I didn't know that vtakk (joke at work) was that fun so im thinking about modding this engine further and further every day . I looked at the rsr ex mag tonight and was impressed with the stats--im probably gonna purchase it.

Nice setup. Props to you bro. Must be nice to be able to dump what would be not a whole lot of money to you into a car. You'll have lots of fun. It'll be interesting watching the car change. We'd really like some pics though.

When I make 6 figures I'm going to buy a project car with torque.

I'm saving money for a house. It's pretty hard to save money for a house if you go and buy a 60,000+ dollar corvette or 30,000 dollar supra for example. I hadn't any plans of modding it until last week because it's so fun to drive it to work every day.

I'll take some pics soon.. It's nothing pretty yet. I ordered my omni coils in a package from password jdm, coils/front rear camber kits/lcas. I also ordered the rear disc brake conversion. fun ****'s gonna happen soon!
