Re: EG6 vs EK9?
Wow. Some of these guys are funny. You looking to street or drag this thing. Either way, tractions gonna be a problem with such a light car. Way your options on what perks you want on your ride. Looks, stearing, weight, things of that sort and when your done still pick the eg cuz you'll like it more. lol

Re: EG6 vs EK9?
Actually saying it's an EG could be a hatch or a sedan, though most people on here don't like sedans so I assume your going to mean a hatch. I like the 6th gen hatches much better. Just seems nicer on the inside.

Re: EG6 vs EK9?
I'd want the newest and lowest mileage possible. I always see people with 200k+ on their car do a motor swap, and say that they have a "new" car then. Rebuilding a motor is nice and all, but those miles are still on the chassis and 200k on a Honda leads to worn out bushings and all other parts. I've never been in a Honda with over 150k that didn't rattle. I'd look for a 99-00 hatch with as low of miles as possible. Good luck!

Re: EG6 vs EK9?
yes, i'm well aware that a 300,000 kms chassis will need attention.
this is what i'm gonna go look at (and HOPEFULLY pick up) in about an hour. it's a 92 vx. he's also including a set of bogus rims and tires (not my style but always good to have an extra set of anything lying around!). I hope it checks out fine.

Re: EG6 vs EK9?
id go with what ever you can find that is the "best bang for the buck". personally i like the ek chassis better, but like others have said the eg is a little lighter, if that is whats more important to you then go with that. And just so you are aware, doing a b series swap like a gsr swap will cost you around 3500 bucks, a decent turbo kit is around 3k, then you need supporting mods and tuning. So you could easily spend 10k with the purchase price of the car. But also dont forget to do some suspension work as well. Having 400hp on a stock suspension is not safe. Even with an all motor setup at 200whp, a good suspension is well worth it. Because whats the point of making good power when you cant control it?

- 5th gen Civic hatch* (some)
- 5th gen Civic sedan* (some)
- 3rd gen del Sol* (some)
* 3rd gen would be a '92-'97 in the US. 5th gen would be a '92-'95 in the US. All the above are available as a true "EG" in the US, however these vehicles aren't only available in the US.
And if you want to get technical, an EK could be:
- 6th gen Civic hatch* ** (some)
- 6th gen Civic sedan* ** (some)
- 1st gen Integra SJ sedan* **
- 1st gen Vertex sedan* ** ***
* 1st gen would be a '96-'00 in the US. 6th gen would be a '96-'00 in the US.
** Applicable vehicles are only available outside of the US.
*** Sold as an Isuzu.
I'd want the newest and lowest mileage possible. I always see people with 200k+ on their car do a motor swap, and say that they have a "new" car then. If you can manage to figure out what exactly in my moonroof is rattling, search for my thread on it and mention what you think it is. The rattle doesn't happen all the time and it's occurrence is random. The roof does not leak.
I've had the car since 87,000 miles size years ago and I've never had any big problems besides the transmission (D-series manual transmissions have ISB issues even at low miles) and the a/c compressor (previous owner overcharged it and so the compressor blew causing the pulley to spin freely).
EDIT: My '98 Civic has 158,855 miles on it. My '93 Accord has 260,493 miles on it and has absolutely no rattles.

Check the TSBs. I don't remember if it's supposed to be when it's open or closed, but there is a TSB for it. The fix is a piece of foam or tape or something.
