K24 into 8th gen civic ?.
Looking to move onto another project this time around I'd like to get a base model civic and swap a k24a2 block with a k20z3 head(that way I can avoid the lack of a throttle cable issue the TSX uses). My question is it the same deal as swapping one into an RSX ? or would I be better off getting an RSX base and putting the k24 into that. I know the 90's Honda's inside and out and have plenty of tools/time but no too familiar with the new cars.
thanks.
thanks.

i have fg1 and it looks like it is a tight space went and looked at a rsx base model looks like more room in engine bay so i would say rsx would be easier

There are more differences between the Si and lower trims than just the engine and tranny. Just off the top of my head, I know that the subframe, front knuckles, and steering racks are different. You'd be better off finding an Si with a blown motor to swap the K24 into.
Swapping a K24 into an RSX would be a lot easier than swapping one into a non-Si 06+ Civic.

OP, 06+ civics have no throttle cable, just like a TSX. Idk why you'd need a whole head to get rid of a throttle cable either....maybe I'm not understanding the intent.
Also not sure what room has to do with it? The K24 takes up more space vertically, but a small engine bay doesn't make a difference.
You'd need the whole front subframe from a 8G Si. And a wire harness. And an ECU...and a flash pro.
I guess it would be easier in that respect with a RSX. Or you could just buy a TSX....which is a better car overall than a RSX or an Si.

I hate working on cars with a craped engine bay that's all lol, yah had already budgeted for the flash pro. I can't afford a nice 06+ TSX-S plus they're heavy I'm just looking for a more modern track car.
The K20A3 is from an EP3 (02-05 civic Si) and it doesn't have real VTEC. It has a throttle cable. This would be a huge downgrade for the K24A2, which has real VTEC.
If you're looking for a " more modern track car", buy a 06+ Si. A 06+ EX will make a worse track car starting point than a TSX. TSX's have a better chassis lay out and are more "sporty" to start with than an EX. They're quick right off the bat amd have better brakes/handling. The RSX is OK as a track car if you know what you're doing. But the chassis isn't quite as good as a DC2. The base model has smaller brakes than a Type S...I don't know the various other differences except the drivetrain (Duh).
Why don't you try for a DC2-R or S2000 or 06+ Si....or even a RSX-S, I guess. Better starting points for a track car. Albeit slightly higher starting cost....but lower cost to prep or be competitive. Especially a S2000...which is basically the fastest car ever made

The 06-11 Si is a better car than the RSX. It has a better suspension design (more strut travel, steering rack is placed lower, etc), easier to flash ECU, more airbags, better seats, better stereo, etc. OP, if you're set on a k24, find an 06-11 Si and swap the k24 into it. If you find one with a good motor, you can sell it for probably more than you'd buy the k24 for.
