thats awesome, but for some1 that doesn't have the ultimate hook up how would this be better that just buying a RSX. if the swap comes in at 10k and guess you can get a 7th gen civic for about 10k, that is pretty close to the price of a type S but you have a car that is not under warranty. Or is this like one of those deals that this can be done to previous generations of civics. I dont know this why I am asking. I have never installed an engine

Since you have a seen the D17 first hand do you think there might be any benefit in switching from a D16Z6 to one of the 7th gen D17 motors? One more question: Would a B series drop right in to one of those 7th gen coupes too?
Thanks
Thanks

Re: RSX Type-S motor successful into 7th gen Civic.(2001+) (lsturbo)
B series will not drop into a 7th gen civic. Only the K series. Also you need the Si model unless you want to do lots of modifications. I have not done the 7th gen swap yet, however on the Si its pretty much a straight swap. Maybe a couple wiring issues but nothing major.
I don't think your the first, as i've seen picture of it done before, however good job on the swap.

THis is a COUPE CIVIC, not a 2002 Civic SI.
I should have specified. I don't think anybody has got one to run in that car yet.
We are the first.
Its a 2001 Civic Coupe. As far as wiring issues, that was a funny issue for us. Because the RSX ECU plugs right in, right? But the thing is, the entire harness pin locations is way different. That took some time.
Kind of a VERY expensive swap.

wait I think I misinterpreted your statement.
To my knowledge, you are the first to drop into a coupe (not a bolt in)
A couple of people have done the RSX-S swap into a 02 SI hatch. (bolt in)
hope that clears up any confusion.

Re: RSX Type-S motor successful into 7th gen Civic.(2001+) (whatREDLINE)
Jerry and me did this swap, we are thte IB mecanics.
The swap is very labor intensive, requiring customs fab work, A lot of trial and error, Moderate wiring, and many expensive acura dealer parts.
The car is quick and with the right cat should make 170+whp easy.
I wish my eg had 6 gears!
K series is the future.

Aaron got it from a wreck.
I called 20+ boneyards looking for parts and no one had an RSX.
This swap will remain expensive for a while.

Re: RSX Type-S motor successful into 7th gen Civic.(2001+) (TREVER)
To Trever, Jeff, and Jerry -
You guys rock! The motor has survived the 1500 mile trip from LA to Houston, and it still runs like a champ!
To all -
I can't say enough how impressed I am by the work that IB has done with the swap. The custom mounts look absolutely awesome, and Jerry and Trever did a fantastic job to get the car working perfectly in time for me to drive back to Houston. It's been a pleasure working with IB and I would definitely recommend them to anyone who is looking for a shop that gets the job done! Heck, I was impressed enough with them to drive my car all the way from Texas to Southern California to do the swap.
Once again - great job, guys!
