Hi,

So I have a 2001 LX I've been going through it fixing issues one by one.

This one has me a bit perplexed. I had an overheat recently that hasn't replicated itself. Perhaps I needed to burp it, I had taken the rad cap off and let the steam out the pulled it off and let some bubble out before topping up the res and all was good.

However lately when stopping at lights etc (automatic trans) it over-revs a bit, so I thought well hey, I havent adjusted the throttle cable in 10 years so I turned turned the nut about a half turn and that seems to have stoped it from over-reving when I stop but now it just takes a second for the rpms to drop. It seems to drop from whatever (say 2500) to 1000 when I brake, then a second later drops to 700rpm at idle.

Since I adjusted the throttle my car doesnt downshift like a **** anymore so I wonder if maybe a little more play with it might get me the right response I'm looking for?

I suppose I could have a vacuum leak somewere, but I checked all my hoses and everything seems fine, now the reason I jumped to the throttle is it was popped right out of the housing, thoughts?

P.S who's the guy on here from Ottawa that does work? I don't have the room to do everything I need in my current place. I know he posted about doing HG work, but I don't think I have any HG problems (no vapour trail, nothing in the coolant, oil is clean (just changed). Doing a trans drain and fill next week.

But if I do need to get some room for the proper tools to do some more digging around it may help to just pay him to do some stuff.

ok, so it only does the over rev with heqt/ac on. so vacuum leak in coolant system?

Clean the throttle body if you haven't already.

Did an idle re-learn today and it seems to have resolved the issue. I suppose when I installed a new battery a few months back the ECU never corrected any issues effecting idle (the car does have 369,999km on it).

I did a re-learn and everythings good. Woohoo. Now just need to do the rear breaks cause if they had a favourite song it would be metal on metal by Anvil.
