02 Civic 1.7 P1259
I replaced the head gasket on this car put everything back together drove it then I got a CEL P1259 (vtec solenoid malfunction) I inspected the solenoid and the screen was full of what looked like sand so i replaced it put it all back together and still get a CEL when I drive past 3000rpm took car to the dealer (i have a friend that works there) he flashed the computer and checked the oil pressure said everything checked fine??? I still have a CEL please help

Sand!? Did it look like really sparkly sand? Like say, sand made of metal? That can't be good, all I've ever seen in there was carbon buildup.
Did you verify if the solenoid is actually working? Did you clean the solenoid completely, to where it moved freely just by pushing it with your thumb? Did you clean the passages in the engine?
