Re: HELP!! No Vtec and No CEL
ive noticed that if the engine is cold like on start up it wont kick in untill it gets to temp it just started to do that on mine but i have only had it for a little over 1000 miles so i dunno if it is supopsed to be like that or if the selnoid for the vtec is going bad

Grab a wire. And run it from positive side of battery to the solenoid clip. (take the clip apart) and see if it clicks. As soon as you give it 12v it should click. If it dont then the solenoid dont work. Also what ecu are you using?

yes it should set a code if it is something electrical is wrong, but like said the engine needs to get up to operating temp before it'll let vtec engage, you probably need to check for oil pressure up to the solenoid

Re: HELP!! No Vtec and No CEL
so here is what i would do....
1. put 12v to it to see if it clicks. if it does you know its good
2. then check to make sure the pins for vtec are locking. there is a service port you can blow air into with a compressor and it should lock the pins. if they do not lock then the head is messed up.
3. if that checks out okay then you need to find out if the ecu is sending the solenoid a signal. dyno is the best place for this. use a meter and see if a 12v signal is sent when it is suppost to cross over
