2004 Accord 4cyl - what would be cost to replace timing chain and clutch?
I'm just wondering what you think an independent shop would charge (parts and labor) to replace my timing chain, as well as my clutch/bearing/pressure plate. My car needs both and I'm not sure if it's worth having it done, or just driving until catastrophe strikes

Clutch should be around 500 plus parts. Timing chain, dunno man. Never done one of em before. You should a trusted mechanic to check that its actually bad before you spend that much money on it.
also, keep up on your oil. Please. And do changes every 3,000-4,000 miles

By the sound of it, either you got a car that shouldn't have passed quality control, or the previous owner didnt take as good care of it as you(if you're not the first owner)
I dont trust the oil light either, like you said its probably more of an emergency thing.
perhaps you should consider a secondary oil pressure sensor with a gauge in the cabin?
or just keep a qt in the car and check it sometimes when you buy gasoline. I never used to do it with my V6 accord, but I was driving my dad's old yota pickup and that thing leaks/burns a qt in a week or two lol. After a little while you get pretty used to it. It doesn't waste any time, you're stuck at the station for a little while anyway. They even usually provide paper rags for this purpose.

Re: 2004 Accord 4cyl - what would be cost to replace timing chain and clutch?
I got it 4 years ago at 104k miles (177k now) and it was looking pretty good. I do shift at redline like 20x every time I drive it I've learned to keep spare quarts in the trunk. The car doesn't run good since the timing is slightly off, and it throws a code for camshaft position. (I think i'll cover that up with some black tape). I can feel and hear the sound of the timing being off, unless i'm just cruising down the highway. Plus the mpg is way down..
I think I'll just drive it until it explodes. I got it for next to nothing, and I can't get a title for it (long story) and fixing everything would be too big of a risk. When it explodes i'll sell it for parts and buy another and repeat.

What color is it? I'd love to have a graphite pearl parts car. I need a hood/fender/rear driver door/trunk. That I know would fit.
I also need a driver side front wishbone, subframe, prolly some other stuff too. Dunno if the v6 shares these parts with the I4 too

It's a sedan and it's a dark blue. Most panels have small dents or scratches since I usually push shopping carts out of the way and nudge small children.

I do the same **** lol. Except mine got ran over by a lifted truck and I kick flipped it over a retaining wall, thru a mail box and ended up backed into a driveway. Never mind then, thanks anyway though.
