Fast turn signal, blinker, FIXED!
I have just joined this forum to try to spread the word on how I fixed the fast blinker problem on my '98 Accord. I recently bought this car and found that the left blinker was very fast during the day, but normal at night when I had the headlights turned on. I suspected right away that it was a bad bulb or a bad ground. A quick check around the car showed that all lights were working. Blinkers, parking lights, brake lights, even backup lights were all working. I started searching the web and found many, many posts about the same problem on numerous forums. I was frustrated to see how many people answered with the old 'look for the burned out bulb' answer that often applies in a fast blinker issue, but is not the right answer in this case, especially when the person with the problem had already stated that all lights were working.
To cut to the chase I put a new 1157A bulb in the front left turn signal and it blinked at the proper speed. I knew that the old bulb was lighting and the filaments were good so I put it back in and it now flashed at the proper speed. It was obvious to me then that I had just made good electrical connection at the bulb by messing with it. I looked into the bulb socket, which was very clean, and saw the the only ground is a tiny tab about 1/16 of an inch accross that barely protruded beyond the surface of the plastic socket. I bent it out a little with the tip of a knife and both bulbs still flashed as they should. I did leave the new bulb in for good measure but I am sure that the old bulb is fine too.
I hope this helps a bunch of people and if anyone knows of a better forum to repost this on, feel free to do so. Thanks, Steve

Interesting. Never would have thought of that. If all bulbs were functioning properly i just would have gotten pissed off haha. Appreciate the info bro!

Interesting fix. My blinkers in my Prelude blink quickly as well. I was resolved to replace the relay (since I have an extra laying around) but I think I'll try this first for sure.
