CRASH!!!
Yea so I was heading down Rt. 851 heading to Wal-Mart and theres a road (shaw Rd.) that has a blind turn, turning onto Rt. 851 i wasnt speeding or anything and then all of a sudden a girl pulls off Shaw road and bam! smacks me int he passenger front fender
Come to find out, its a classmate of mine. Her car took a lot more damage than mine did however. Her radiator broke no bumper basically she has no front end except a hood.
I am gonna need a new fender, bumper, and all the lights and a hood
SO yea this really blows , but hey now insurance pays for the parts i was gonna get out of my own pocket.
goin tot he yard tomorrow, maybe brign some pics back with me

Re: CRASH!!! (yellowdcn)
no pictures yet
it happened at approx. 6:30 EST and the state trooper and tow truck guy wanted to get the cars moved
you guys think my strut-bar(front upper) might have helped brace the impact and kept the frame from bending?
i really dont want this thing to be totaled

The strut bar may have helped a little. Some pictures would help to answer that question better. At least the damange wasn't too bad and you didn't get hurt in the collision.

Depends, you are entitled to finding your own shop. See what a shop will do for you. A OEM hood can cost a few hundred from what I hear, CF isn't that much more.

that really stinks...I don't know about you but you never love a car the same after an accident. In the back of my mind it somehow tarnished forever.

her insurance company adjuster should just check out your car and issue a check for the amount they think the damage is worth. then you go to a yard and get all the parts and with the pocket change you get the cf hood.
if they want to fight for whose blame it is and what not then your gonna have to fork out the deductible and do it through your own insurance first then your insurance has to get the money back from her insurance.
an OEM honda hood with paint will cost right around what a cf hood costs anyways

We've got people from all over talking to Drifter who's in PA. How that stuff works can be different for different states.
It may be that if you want her insurance to give YOU a check, you'll have to sign off that you accept the settlement. Then you can't come back if you find more hidden damage. READ whatever they want you to sign.

i think ill just forget the hood
i dont really NEED one anyhow
whatever is broken i want fixed and thats fine by me
cool thing is i found out, the cop told Rachel that there was 2 different charges he could give her with a max of 2 points(which sucks her beign 17), but he said that since he saw that the grass, weeds n trees were obstructing her vision and he understood teh situation, he would make sure whatever the citation or whatever was, she wouldnt get any points

Re: (drifter_for_life06)
Most insurance companies will cash you out if you want so that you can go to a body shop you want. You can also have what ever you want done at a body shop and ask to be cashed out on the hood so that you can buy it yourself. I have done this in California and Oregon after being hit on my street bike in Cali and being hit by an uninsured person here in Oregon.
