Clutch Issues, Need Help
I drive a 1994 Honda Accord LX Coupe. over the last year or so i've noticed that i was losing pressure in the clutch pedal. it was fine for a long time, then one day i noticed the pedal losing pressure, and i took a look, and the fluid was low. so i filled it and all was fine. then it happenend a few more times, each time being less and less time between refiling the fluid. well the other day i went out of town, car was fine the entire weekend, right when im getting back home on saturday night, i notice it losing pressure again, i had planned to check on it the following day, but didn't drive my car and it slipped my mind. well this morning i get up to go to work and i go to start my car so it can warm up, and the clutch pedal hits the floor. i check the fluid, very very low, so i fill it up thinking thats going to help this time....it doesn't.
tonight, ive been working on the car all night since i got home from work. a good friend of mine told me that it was the Clutch Master Cylinder, and it needed to be replaced, bled out and all would be fine. that this is a common problem with honda's.
No Dice. Old master cylinder WAS ****, but that didnt fix the problem, i put in the new master sylinder, got some fresh fluid in there, bled the system. the clutch pedal didnt gain pressure for quite some time, which i expected. it got a good bit of pressure, but quickly lost it again.
Can anyone help? what i have noticed. i was bleeding the slave cylinder, and i noticed when i looked down there was wetness below the slave cylinder. could this be the problem?
if i come home tomorrow night, replace that, and that doesn't fix it what else could be the problem? the hose from the resevoir looked fine, no leaks
when the fluid was in, and it was working properly, the clutch felt fine, so i don't believe it to be the clutch itself, but if i'm wrong let me know.
thanks in advance for any help that can be offered
ive been a member of H-T for a long time and i know the answer is out there, i searched but got nothing. if you know of this problem in a previous thread, please link me to it.

Ironically I just replaced slave/master cylinders tonight in same gen car.
You see wetness, is the resevoir level going down too? If so, Replace the slave. That is most likely your issue.
Make sure you get the metal replacement, not plastic. also remember to put the hard line in the slave cylinder before bolting it up.
It is easier and faster this way.
the hard line fitting on my new slave was larger than the old one.
I Flushed it until absolutely no bubbles came out, and it is good as new now.
Took me forever to get out the cotter pin on the MC. I have a sore neck and side now too....

Re: Clutch Issues, Need Help (SuperSlow)
yeah, right below the slave i see wetness that i didnt see before. fluid is going through and the resevoir is getting lower as i pump it by hand, and i have my girlfriends brother bleeding the slave. he said last night that there was no air in it when it was bleeding.
yeah, i'm in a ton of pain right now at work from that damned cotter pin. i was hoping others had problems with it, and that i wasn't just a moron. good to know. too bad i have to replace it, because i broke that SOB right off, along with a piece of my dash from getting mad with it
any recommended brands for a slave cylinder?
how hard is the install of the slave cylinder compared to the master cylinder?
anything i should know before attempting this, any special tools? i know last night i had to run out and get a flare nut wrench. ( i probably didn't need to, but it's a damn good excuse to get a new tool )
thanks again

Re: (JohnnyTequila)
Slave is a cakewalk compared. No cotter pin. Just the 12 mm? hard line fitting, and the 2 12mm bolts underneath. Easier to get the mounting bolts from under the car after breaking them loose. takes about 10 min to swap, and 10 min to bleed.
