cigarette lighter not getting power?
The cigarette lighter in my '94 accord isn't working, and the plug doesn't charge my phone anymore... Is there a fuse, some wiring, or a contact of some kind that I can easily replace, or is the only option to replace that portion of the dash? I've never used the actual cigarette lighter but I did charge my phone with it. One day it just stopped working, everything else works fine.

Factory radio installed, if so is it still working? The lighter socket and the radio (factory wired) share the same "key on" power source.

check for power with key on engine off. Lost again is right they should be working together. Its not hard to remove the lighter and trace the wiring for the issue.

Yes I have the factory radio and it still works, so it's not the fuse.
accordturb96, do you mean check the cigarette lighter for power with the key in position 1 or position 2 (with engine off)? I'll try both when I have a chance later tonight

Yeah I've tried to plug in a few different devices and none worked, I've also tested my charger in another car and it worked fine.
I got a multimeter not long ago but I haven't used it yet... Would I touch the pos wire to the center contact and the neg wire to the contact on the inside wall? What reading should a working cig lighter give?

Jvr-yes multi lead to the contact point and one to the wall. If your accessories are not working it's more than likely it's not getting juice or a ground or power supply is dead for some reason. But it is worth a shot to check out. You should see 12+Volts

Ok it's not getting any power... Anyone know how I might go about removing it to get at the wires back there? Obviously the ashtray jumps pulls out, but are there any screws holding the cig lighter in or will it just pop out if I pry it? It'd be really nice if I could charge my phone on long trips

It's been some time since I've removed mine. I believe it just comes out but I would only suggest lightly testing that. Or use the search function I'm sure someone has done it recently. It may also be easier for you to remove the whole black trim set that holds the radio in place and surrounds the shifter. This is removed by the screws inside the center console arm rest under the trap door then you remove the cup holder and you will find more screws holding the plastic together inside there.

Re: cigarette lighter not getting power?
Success! I got the center console and black trim piece off and the white plastic connector thing the cig lighter wires go into was just unplugged. Someone must've taken that trim off before and forgot to plug it back in. I plugged it in and reinstalled the trim and center console and now it works perfectly!
Btw what are those connectors actually called? It's the plastic box thing the wires go into and it has an array of holes for the male-end pins to fit into.
Also, how do you remove the shift **** so you can pull the black trim off the shifter entirely? I managed to plug in that connector without completely removing the trim, but I'm going to be installing part of the prelude shifter assembly onto my accord shifter soon so I'll need to remove it completely to get down there. Does the shift **** come off, or do you just disconnect the shift boot from the black trim, then pull the shift boot up and drape it over the **** to get it out of the way?

Hell yea man! We'll if it's a manual it should just unscrew and if auto there is a screw holding the thing together I believe on the side. If you're removing the surrounding housing around the shift it is held into the dash by various screws. Bit of a pain in the *** but not bad. Just look closely at everything
