have you double checked over everything in the timing belt area to make sure you aligned everything correctly on assembly?

The distributor needs to align correctly when you install it. It should slide right in so if you had trouble getting it in there I would take it back out and check it. This will cause the car not to start.

Did you put your timing belt on correctly? Do you have your spark plug wires in correct order on the distributor (common problem some people have)?
Did you make sure all electrical connections are good and everything is grounded properly?

Re: changed head gasket now the car wont start. (technine)
if the timing belt was not put on correctly wouldn't the car have no compression on at least one cylinder??? we have good compression on all 4 so im assuming there is nothing wrong with the timing belt itself but more ignition or fuel
please advise

Well, you did say it won't start. Did you check any of the things I asked? Spark plug order at least?
